(Small script) ༄༅༔ ༔A Lamp Compendium of Instructions and Sutras. Homage to the perfection of equanimity and wisdom! The great pure appearance is a close indication of the great meaning of yoga; this is the most sacred of all great transmissions. When abiding alone, know it to be like a deer; when wandering in charnel grounds, know it to be like an elephant; when possessing the experience of appearances, know it to be like an ocean; when awareness is fully matured, know it to be like a madman; when a yogi abandons the aggregates, know it to be like a charnel ground; when wisdom mother and child meet, know it to be like the sun and moon; when awareness fades into unconsciousness, know it to be like the sky. These yogis who know this have taken the great confidence of no birth into their hearts and have gone beyond all appearances. The seventeen heart essences of the tantras, combined into a single meditation practice, are like a tree with spreading branches; the sixteen practical instructions of experience, gathered into a single awareness, are like pearls strung on a thread; the two pith instructions of the deb, showing the two entrustments, are like a key to open a vast treasury; the four wondrous pith instructions, complete in a single yoga, are like placing a finger on the eye; with four amazing words, bestowing them in the ear of the fortunate, are like a cuckoo in the ear of a thin sheep; with four ultimate secret meanings, bringing the essential point of the result to the point, are like the lifeblood grasped from the essential point; the seventeen great secret tantras, the awareness of a single yogi, are like opening the door to a rich man's treasury; those seventeen essential points, combined with the text of the great tantras, are like an elephant grasping something with its trunk; the four explanatory pith instructions, planting them in the mind of a person, are like a waterfall pouring from the top of a mountain; with seventeen special pith instructions, one person gains control, like a lamp in a dark cave; with the magical glyphs of letters, combining the meaning of Āli (藏文:ཨཱ,梵文天城体:आ,梵文罗马拟音:ā,汉语字面意思:阿) and Kāli (藏文:ཀཱ,梵文天城体:का,梵文罗马拟音:kā,汉语字面意思:嘎), are like translating the sound of Kalapingka; the two aspects of primordial purity and spontaneous presence, combining the philosophical tenets, are like a king entering a castle; the six weapons of speech, when speaking with others, are like sesame oil.

Like a sharpened sword, the two instructions of inner and outer bindu, whoever becomes familiar with them, is like a king ruling his subjects. With the instructions of the four sessions, to set that on the path, is like a person who has been dismissed from service. With the instructions of the four ways of abiding, seeking the place of yogic wisdom, is like going to the top of a high mountain. For the five kinds of last testaments, to make them the path at the time of death, is like a great hailstone falling to the ground. A person who has gathered these together, abandoning activities and looking, is like meeting an inexhaustible treasure. Therefore, these letters, the yogi should keep secret and practice. In an extremely solitary place, abide like a humble wild animal. In a place free from bustle, abide like an ordinary person. In a place without enemies or friends, abide like a beggar. In a place without a specific aim, abide as you please. Emaho! Seeing the ground, there is no root; seeing the nature of reality, there is no meditation; seeing awareness, there is no instruction; seeing appearance, there is no view; seeing meaning, there is no compassion; seeing mind, there is no action; seeing birth and death, there is no virtue or vice; seeing phenomena, there is no Buddha; seeing delusion, there is no hell; seeing myself, there is nothing at all. Practice is a secret book, the essence of all instructions, written by me, Shri Singha. The Lamp that Summarizes the Core Instructions, called the Great Commentary on the Meaning of All, is complete. རྒྱ་རྒྱ་རྒྱ༔ (Tibetan) The protector of mantras, Ekajati (藏文,梵文天城体:एकजटी,梵文罗马拟音:ekajaṭī,汉语字面意思:One Braid) and, the oath-bound lord of the hat, protect! I entrust you. May I meet a person with karma. I, a crazy vidyadhara, having practiced alone in the mountains, cut off the single root. Having abandoned bustle and retinue, appearances arise as friends. Instructions are not sold for wealth, the blessing is great light. Having brought all dharmas to exhaustion, I am separated from view and meditation. Having practiced the four sounds, I am not overcome by the elemental enemies. Having practiced the instructions according to the texts, various siddhis are accomplished. Now there is no difference between liberation and non-liberation. Emaho! From the "Legacy of the Ancestors." "Collected Works of Longchen Rabjam" (1), The Lamp that Summarizes the Core Instructions.
