A Brief Biography of the Omniscient Dharma Lord Longchenpa A Brief Biography of the Omniscient Dharma Lord Longchenpa: The place where he was born was Yoru Drä's upper village. He was born as the son of Ngagchang Tendzin Sung and Yum Dromza Sonam Gyen, in the twenty-sixth generation of the unbroken lineage of Nganlam Gyalwa Chokyang, a direct disciple of the father Guru, in the Earth Male Monkey year of the fifth Rabjung cycle, on the eighth day of the waxing moon of the fourth month. Along with wondrous omens in his mother's dreams, the lotus of his marks and signs blossomed anew. As soon as he was born, Namdru Remati, in the form of a black woman, took him in her hands, saying, "I will protect this emanation," and then returned him to his mother and disappeared. In this way, she protected him and served him properly, appearing in different forms whenever needed. From a young age, he possessed great compassion, love, and intelligence, and by the age of five, he effortlessly knew how to read and write. From the age of seven, he received from his father the empowerments, transmissions, and instructions, including the practices, of some of the sadhanas such as the Eight Commands of the Peaceful and Wrathful Deities, as well as mastering some of the common sciences such as medicine and astrology. Around the age of nine, he memorized the Twenty Thousand Verse Prajnaparamita Sutra and the Eight Thousand Verse Prajnaparamita Sutra by reciting them two hundred times. At the age of twelve, he was ordained at Samye Monastery by Khenpo Samdrub Rinchen and Lopon Kunga Odzer, and was given the name Tsultrim Lodrö. He studied the Vinaya, and also served as the reciter of the new explanations and their order. From the age of sixteen, he studied the Two Paths and Their Fruit and other teachings from Lopon Trarin, the Kalachakra and other teachings from Lopon Wangye, the teachings of Zhang Tsalpa from Zalu Rinpoche, and especially at the age of nineteen, he went to Sangpu and relied mainly on Tsen Gönpa, Labrangpa Chöpal Gyaltsen, and Zhönnu Rinchen, who was known as the second Chödrak, and for six years, he thoroughly examined the words and meanings of the texts and commentaries on the Perfection of Wisdom. Furthermore, he relied on the translator Lodrö Tänpa, Chöje Rangjung Dorje, Shuksep Rinpoche, and Danpakpa Zhönnu.

U·Dondrup. Nyos Thingmapa Sangye Drak'o. Sakya Lama, the Great Self-Master. Lama Khropupa and other more than twenty virtuous spiritual friends were properly relied upon. At that time, he listened to almost all the Sutras, Tantras, and Instructions that were famous in Tibet. He also diligently studied the common fields of knowledge such as craftsmanship, medicine, astrology, and poetics. He did not just listen, but in various circumstances, he practiced the sadhana of Achala and Saraswati, the Illuminator of Wisdom, and saw the faces of the deities. In particular, he placed Saraswati in the palm of his hand and saw the four continents and Mount Meru for many days. The lotus of the throat chakra fully bloomed, and the petals of unobstructed wisdom expanded. Therefore, in Sangpu and other monastic colleges, he was known as "Samye Lung Mangwa." While residing in Sangpu, due to repeated harassment by the monks of Kham, he went to Gyampu. He set a boundary with a bag of barley and diligently practiced. After about five months, he saw a woman who seemed to be a holy mother, adorned with fine clothes, gold, and jewels. He prayed for her compassionate guidance. He was granted the promise of constant guidance. He offered his headdress and experienced a clear and non-conceptual samadhi for a month. In particular, he received a prophecy to meet the great vidyadhara. After emerging from retreat, he performed one hundred and eight Kunrig rituals for the sake of his mother. Then, he went to Upper Gyampu. He met the great vidyadhara and his disciples, who were residing in about seventy tents and huts. He said, "Last night I dreamed of a strange divine bird surrounded by thousands of birds, carrying my books and flying in different directions. It seems that a lineage holder of this Dharma will appear." Then he was very happy. Similarly, in a dream, Panchen Vimala also prophesied, "You are the emanation of my aspiration, and you will uphold the Great Perfection teachings." At Shampo Gangra, he received many empowerments and instructions. In particular, the unsurpassed yoga, the Light of Secret Essence, outer, inner, and secret cycles, the Seventeen Tantras, one hundred and nineteen instructions and their branches, the three root mothers, Rahula, and Damchen, Lekden Lhamo and her brother, and other sadhanas.
