༈ Oral Instructions on Devotional Yoga ༈ Oral Instructions on Devotional Yoga Svasti. Even if there are hundreds or thousands of lamas, the lama who introduces one to one's own mind is the most supreme. More kind than the Buddhas, I prostrate to the root lama! The very essence of one's own mind transcends all arising, ceasing, and abiding. This, the Dzogchenpas designate as "Rigpa." To make that the path, there is no essential practice other than non-distraction and non-meditation. Therefore, maintain the undistracted, natural state. That is also said to be inseparable from abiding and moving. In that which has no abiding and no arising, moving arises without ceasing. Abiding, moving, arising, and ceasing are inseparable. Undistracted mindfulness is the path of all the victorious ones. Distraction is the arena of samsara. Therefore, in the state of undistracted mindfulness, day and night should be blended in a continuous cycle. The luminous nature of the mind must be purified of the stains of conceptual thought. Moving should not be accepted or rejected; moving must be naturally liberated. The root of the arising of virtue is only devotion to the lama. Therefore, in the yoga of the lama, always strive without hypocrisy. Although there are endless things to say, according to the essential practice at hand, may this slight utterance cause realization to increase like the waxing moon! Thus, for the practice of A-mgon Tenzin, the king of Lo in Lower Ngari, Rigdzin Tshewang Norbu spoke this in Smonthang on the third day of the white side of the first month of the Earth Snake year (1929).
