Therefore, is it endowed with four mudras? If subdivided, it becomes endowed with seven mudras. That refers to the two types, peaceful and wrathful. The first is the cause of the mudra, and the general samaya mudra of the five families arising from it, and the individual mudras of the deities derived from it. The first is, as stated in the "Small Commentary": "The head is the Tathagata family itself, the right hand is the Vajra Akshobhya, the left hand is the Ratnasambhava family, the left foot is the Dharma family, and the right foot is the Karma family." Having thus determined the five parts of the body, and that the fingernails of the appendages are of the Vajra family, etc., on the fingers of the right hand of the Akshobhya family, place ཧཱུཾ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari hum, Romanized Sanskrit hūṃ, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) ཨཱོཾ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari aum, Romanized Sanskrit aum, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) སྭཱ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari svā, Romanized Sanskrit svā, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) ཨཱཾ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari ām, Romanized Sanskrit ām, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) ཧཱ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari hā, Romanized Sanskrit hā, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) etc. on the solar disc, and on the fingers of the left hand of the Ratna family, place མཱུཾ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari mūṃ, Romanized Sanskrit mūṃ, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) ལཱཾ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari lāṃ, Romanized Sanskrit lāṃ, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) མཱཾ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari māṃ, Romanized Sanskrit māṃ, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) པཱཾ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari pāṃ, Romanized Sanskrit pāṃ, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) ཏཱཾ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari tāṃ, Romanized Sanskrit tāṃ, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) etc. on the lunar disc, and then join the palms. This is called the cause of the mudra, the Vajra Anjali. The second is, "ༀ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari aum, Romanized Sanskrit aum, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) and མཱུཾ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari mūṃ, Romanized Sanskrit mūṃ, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) join their tips," etc., as taught. That is, in the "Method of the Noose," it says: "Cross the fingers inward and clench, the middle finger, index finger, thumb, and little finger, each with their tips touching outward, the ring finger aligned and extended, this is the samaya mudra." And in the "Fearsome Lightning," it also says: "ཨཱོཾ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari aum, Romanized Sanskrit aum, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) and མཱུཾ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari mūṃ, Romanized Sanskrit mūṃ, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) join their tips, likewise, ཧཱུཾ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari hum, Romanized Sanskrit hūṃ, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) and ལཱཾ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari lāṃ, Romanized Sanskrit lāṃ, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) are joined, ཧཱ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari hā, Romanized Sanskrit hā, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) and པཱཾ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari pāṃ, Romanized Sanskrit pāṃ, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) are also the same, ཨཱཾ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari ām, Romanized Sanskrit ām, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) and ཏཱཾ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari tāṃ, Romanized Sanskrit tāṃ, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) are joined, back to back, སྭཱ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari svā, Romanized Sanskrit svā, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) and མཱཾ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari māṃ, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) are connected, this is the general mudra of the father." From joining the hands in Anjali, "ཨཱོཾ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari aum, Romanized Sanskrit aum, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) and མཱུཾ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari mūṃ, Romanized Sanskrit mūṃ, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) are joined, ཧཱུཾ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari hum, Romanized Sanskrit hūṃ, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) and ལཱཾ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari lāṃ, Romanized Sanskrit lāṃ, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) are joined, སྭཱ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari svā, Romanized Sanskrit svā, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) and པཱཾ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari pāṃ, Romanized Sanskrit pāṃ, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) are joined, ཨཱཾ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari ām, Romanized Sanskrit ām, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) and མཾ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari maṃ, Romanized Sanskrit maṃ, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) are joined, ཧཱ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari hā, Romanized Sanskrit hā, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) and ཏཱཾ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari tāṃ, Romanized Sanskrit tāṃ, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) are extended," it is said to be the general mudra of the mother. The third has five parts, the first being the mudra of the five families. If mainly applied to Akshobhya, meditating on oneself as Akshobhya is the Mahamudra. From that state, hiding the other four letters of the right hand, bending the middle finger to the heart, extending the means, this is the established samaya mudra. Meditating on its tip as ཧཱུཾ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari hum, Romanized Sanskrit hūṃ, literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) is the thought Dharma mudra. Thinking that it melts and becomes a vajra is the thought samaya mudra. The left hand's five moons are curled inward into a fist, ringing the bell, and leaning on the left thigh in the manner of embracing the consort is the established karma mudra. Meditating in that way is the thought karma. Then, turning the right-hand mudra forward, to the left, at the heart of the consort, along with the bell, reciting ཧཱུཾ་བཛྲ་དྷྲིཀ྄་ (Tibetan, Devanagari hūṃ vajra dhṛk, Romanized Sanskrit hūṃ vajra dhṛk, literal Chinese meaning: Hum! Vajra Holder) and dissolving it.

Speaking is the Dharma seal, which is to expand wisdom through skillful means. This symbolizes the hand seal of the Mother, and other lineages explain the lineages with these. Second, the hand seals of the Hero and Heroine: the fingers excluding the thumb, with the determination of meditating on their respective seed syllables as before, are like the case of the seven-fold hand seals of the five families. Third, the hand seals of the Gatekeeper Father and Mother: symbolized by the former. Fourth, the hand seals of the Six Thubpas: for the sake of subduing the uncertain beings to be tamed, there are various kinds, which can be summarized into six. Fifth, the hand seals of Samantabhadra Father and Mother: Father Samantabhadra's right hand facing upwards in meditative equipoise, radiating the light of the five wisdoms; Mother Samantabhadri's left hand facing upwards in meditative equipoise, or like Father Samantabhadra, or vajra palms joined at the heart. Second, the hand seals of the Wrathful Deities: to symbolize complete liberation. The hand seal of the central Wrathful Deity: as it is said in other tantras, the five families, places, gatekeepers, and hand seals including the powerful mothers. In the extensive commentary, it says: The hand seal of the central Heruka: and so on. The hand seals of places and locations: are explained to be in accordance with other tantras. The hand seals of the Mothers: are explained in the Great Sutra Beyond the World. These also possess four hand seals: clearly visualizing the deity's form is the Great Seal of the Body, clearly visualizing one's own seed syllable in the heart and uttering words from the mouth is the Dharma Seal, holding the hand implements is the Samaya Seal of Thought, and after forming the hand seal, transforming it forward and releasing it is the Karma Seal. Thus, in the Heruka Galpo, it says: The body is the Great Seal of the Body, speech is the Dharma Seal, activity is the Karma Seal, and mind is the Samaya Seal. If the four hand seals are explained in conjunction with the Completion Stage: the upper gate Tummo Chandali is the Samaya Seal, the three lower gate hand seals are the Karma Seal, the illusory body of great compassion is the Dharma Seal, and the non-conceptual, self-luminous wisdom is the Great Seal of the Body. Fourth, the necessary connections of the tantra also have three aspects, the essence is: In the Thuk Thig, it says: The need for a spoken connection is also a need, becoming four causes, conditions, and branches. Therefore, what is to be said, what says it, and the need.

The four ultimate purposes, etc. First, the expressed self-nature base continuum refers to the self-nature that has been naturally present in the continuum of all sentient beings since the beginning. As stated in the scriptures: "The expressed self-nature base continuum." Second, in order to understand the self-nature continuum, the continuum of letters, which is the means of expression and the condition of the path, the illusory net, the nature of sound appearance and sound number, the basis of designation by name, including the scriptures, is the expresser. As stated in the scriptures: "What is added without exaggeration is the expressing illusory net." Third, relying on hearing and thinking about the expresser, understanding the meaning of the expressed, the object, in the form of a general meaning, is the necessity. As stated in the scriptures: "Like a finger pointing at the moon." Fourth, after understanding in this way, practicing the meaning through either the generation or completion stage, obtaining common accomplishments such as raising the dead and longevity, is the subtle ultimate purpose; and the four vidyadharas of the learning union and the complete enlightenment of the non-learning union, thus manifesting the supreme accomplishment, is the supreme ultimate purpose. As stated in the scriptures: "The purpose of the purpose is the fruit itself." The explanation of these connections is: the expressed and the expresser are the knowable and the knower; the expresser and the necessity are the means and what arises from the means; the necessity and the ultimate purpose are what arises from that; and the ultimate purpose and the expressed are connected by the nature of being one entity. The etymology is: why is it called the necessity connection of the continuum? Because the four dharmas, necessity, etc., as previously stated, are established as having mutual connections, because for obtaining the ultimate fruit to be obtained, an indispensable connection is established. Classification: two types, mainly the path of liberation and mainly the path of means. The first is as stated in the previous section on essence. The second is: co-emergent wisdom has been naturally present in oneself since the beginning, it is the expressed self-nature base continuum. The key to realizing it, the great bindu with means, is the continuum of letters that is the means of expression and the condition of the path. Practicing its meaning, generating special great bliss wisdom in the continuum, is the necessity.
