The method of meditating on the Anu instructions related to empowerment is: Engage in great abiding meditation, visualizing a white bindu in the center of your heart, about the size of a pigeon's egg, blazing with light. When it becomes clear, a bindu of light shoots out from it like a shooting star from the crown of your head. From that, countless tiny bindus radiate, filling the expanse of the sky that can be encompassed by the mind. Then, gather back all the tiny bindus that pervade the sky, and rest in the state where they merge as one with the original radiating bindu, without an observer or observed. At that time, the wisdom of awareness, inseparable from the realm and the possessor of the realm, arises vividly with great bliss. It is crucial to cultivate that state without clinging. Thus, in the root mandala, the inner empowerment and the practice empowerment, in a manner similar to the complete Sutra tradition, the practice of the four river empowerments, along with all the essential instructions, is accomplished. Thinking, 'I will practice properly according to the instructions,' the main deity pledges with 'as it is' and so forth. Offer the mandala of gratitude, and offer the offerings of 'from now on' and so forth. The dedication of merit is as before. Subsequent rituals should be performed according to the circumstances. The profound and vast tantras and instructions are like the expanse of the sky. When measured by the discerning sun with its seven horses, the light of the well-spoken Dharma illuminates countless sights, becoming a glory visible to the beautiful eye. From some great beings, in this degenerate age, few are able to truly understand and explain it. Therefore, this pure writing should be regarded as an unprecedented excellent explanation. From the Vajra Staircase of Empowerment Rituals of the Compendium Sutra, in the root mandala, the fourth chapter, which explains the empowerment ritual of the four rivers surrounding the outer and secret aspects, which are uncommon to the Tantra tradition, and the inner and practice aspects, which are common to the Tantra and instructions.
