Having thoroughly abandoned afflictions through meditation, there is neither affliction nor samsara and nirvana, it is called the wisdom of equality. The mind immediately following that, clings by clinging to the six, that which distinguishes is the discriminating mind. Therein, through true wisdom and illusion-like samadhi, when great patience is obtained by destroying, the meaningful clinging transforms into abiding, showing pure realms, possessing wisdom in all times, unobstructed in all activities, the place where discriminating thoughts completely transform, is the wisdom of discernment. Thus, these two wisdoms, through pure meditation, towards samsara and nirvana, not abiding in peace, possessing love and compassion, for the retinues, showing various bodies and speech. The mandala of the great Dharma realm appears, it is the treasure of all forms of samadhi dharani, it is called the enjoyment body. One part of the five senses mind, born from true complete thought, possessing the form of the four truths, through the sixteen aspects such as knowing forbearance, after seeing the meaning and truly realizing, the five senses transform and abide, entering into all meanings and all, the twelve hundred qualities, obtaining freedom, that itself reaches the ultimate, is the wisdom of accomplishment. In all realms, with various, immeasurable and countless emanations, accomplishing the meaning of all sentient beings. This is the great emanation body, the mind, intention, and alaya consciousness transforming and abiding, those possessing the activities of the three bodies, in the non-elaborate mandala of the Dharma realm, all of the beginningless samsara and nirvana are complete, abiding in a place devoid of one and otherness, it is considered the nature body. The Victorious One, in some other scriptures, shows this as the Dharma body. At that time, the mirror-like wisdom body, the other is called the two form bodies. The nature of the five wisdoms and four bodies manifesting is the Buddha, the mind, intention, and consciousness, all that possesses defilements is the alaya, it is called the stainless Tathagatagarbha. Destroying impure complete thought, born from pure complete thought, the wisdom root of the noble one, is said to be clinging to the truth of the path. Because this ultimate truth is not realized, the ignorant ones wander in the ocean of samsara. Because this great vehicle boat is not realized, who will reach the other shore? All should realize this meaning.

May there be auspiciousness! A treatise distinguishing between consciousness and wisdom. Written by Rangjung Dorje on the first day of the tenth month of the Pig year in a mountain retreat above Dechen. Even though possessing all the desired enjoyments, he did not accumulate them; even though having many desirable retinues, he did not cling to them. The treasury of wisdom, the three trainings and the pitaka, he placed in the heart of renunciation and recitation. This was written by Karma Ngedon Sungrab Tenpai Gyaltsen, the Dzogchen master and disciple, in the Khading Cave one evening. May virtue and excellence increase! Sarva Mangalam!
