A detailed explanation of the three correct modes of reasoning. A detailed explanation of the three correct modes of reasoning. The first has three cases: the result is an indicator of the cause; the self-nature is an indicator of the essence; negation is inferred from the invisible. The first case is: if it is said that all phenomena like the manifest burning of the cause of fire become indicators of smoke, then the self-nature of the cause of fire, that is, the universal phenomenon, if there are not enough, the results that will not arise, such as smoke, etc., are the subject of the proposition. In some cases, it can be used as a reason to prove that there is a cause of fire, because if it is proved in this way, the three aspects can be complete. It is not an indicator of special phenomena that are not their own opposites, such as manifest burning, because there will be confusion about it. The second case is that, like becoming the essence of the phenomenon to be proved, like the made, it is also the subject of the proposition. On the sound, proving that it merely has its own self-nature and phenomena that are inherently related, such as impermanence, etc., is the correct reason, because proving in this way can complete the three aspects. The third case has two types: it can negate the assumed existence; it can prove the obvious non-existence. The first case is: like the assumed meat-eating vase, etc., the valid cognitions of scriptures, etc., are not applicable, this is the subject of the proposition. In some cases, it does not exist, that is, it has the result of making the term of assumed existence inapplicable, because in some cases, proving that the three aspects of the assumption are not existence is complete. The reason why the plural "valid cognitions, etc." is used is to cover all three valid cognitions that are irrelevant in the context of scriptures. The second case has three types: the entity, the classification, and the elimination of debate. The first case is: whether all invisible signs only have the fruit of negating existence, if asked in this way, then relative to the difference of the reason, that is, relative to the obvious invisibility, the obvious vase is invisible, is the subject of the proposition. In some cases, it has the result of knowing and expressing the agreement that some obvious objects of negation do not exist, because in some cases, proving that the three aspects of the obvious vase do not exist is complete. The second case is: the invisible reason with the meaning and term of non-existence is the subject of the proposition. There are four cases: the contradictory self-nature is established, and the contradictory result is established, and the self-nature as the cause is not established, and the essence.

Because such established natures exist in unestablished things. Among them, the first is like fire preventing cold touch; the second is like smoke preventing cold touch; the third is like the absence of fire preventing smoke; the fourth is like not seeing a visible vase, thereby preventing a visible vase. By showing self-contradiction and self-non-apprehension as knowable, therefore, sequentially, like fire preventing the touch of cotton, seeing pervasive contradiction; like blocking wood thereby preventing meat, pervasive non-apprehension should also be known as knowable. Third, if the result of fire can prevent cold touch, then can the cause of fire, when posited as a sign, similarly prevent cold touch? If the direct cause of fire is posited as a sign, then the pervasion cannot be determined, and if only the cause is posited as a sign, then the cause of fire, which is contradictory to cold touch, i.e., seeing firewood as the sign, that subject, is a mistaken pervasion. Because, the argument that firewood, the cause of fire, prevents cold touch, the reason firewood, the cause of fire, is not contradictory to cold touch. Through this, it is shown that if the cause is contradictory, then there exists something that becomes knowable, i.e., like the difference of being able to burn, approaching fire can prevent the result of cold, i.e., goosebumps, seeing the nature contradictory to the cause; and like smoke preventing the result of cold, i.e., goosebumps, seeing the result contradictory to the cause, these two are shown as knowable. Thus, adding to the previous six, here eight are mentioned. In the Pramāṇavārttika, on top of that, adding the absence of smoke, thereby preventing the direct cause of smoke, like the non-apprehension of the direct result; and like fire preventing the direct cause of cold touch, seeing the nature contradictory to the result, these two, a total of ten are mentioned. If only the cause of fire cannot prevent cold touch, then is it the same that only the result of fire cannot prevent cold touch? The result of fire, which is contradictory to cold touch, subject, when you prevent cold touch in some things, you also need to rely on the fire that is the cause of yourself, near the place where it exists, and that time, etc., like the crooked smoke that does not conform to the situation. Because you may prevent cold touch in some things, and distinguish it by place, time, etc., otherwise for preventing cold touch

Because it is prone to error. For example, to establish that something is not cold, i.e., without cold touch, on a certain basis, it is like presenting the contradictory result—ashes—as the reason. Furthermore, the word "also" is used to summarize the reason of result, according to the Shakya. The Brahmins say that not only is the contradictory cause—what is seen—not a reason, but also merely the contradictory result is not a reason; there must be a distinction, so it is said. Furthermore, the three truths are explained in detail.
