Praise to Regent Maitreya Praise to Regent Maitreya Namo Arya Maitrinathaya The mandala of Maitreya appears in the sky of the Dharma realm, The sunlight of wisdom is the friend of the lotus of those to be tamed. The darkness of existence and peace is not defeated by a thousand, I bow to the Regent, the sun of Dharma. In the center of the lotus, free from the fault of attachment, On the moon seat, the complete part of compassion, The supreme being who delights in the benefit of sentient beings, I bow to the golden-colored, majestic one. One face, two hands, the right hand at the heart, The way to open the countless doors of Dharma, The left hand increases hundreds of thousands of samadhi, I bow to the one who sits with the mudra of equipoise. In the center of the supremely beautiful lotus, At the tip of the fully blooming pistil, With five locks of hair and swirling braids, I bow to the playful young bee. The lips are red like the Bimba fruit, beautiful, The white hair between the eyebrows curls to the right like snow. The topknot of black hair like eye medicine, I bow to the one who is adorned with the support of the Dharmakaya. On the tree of flourishing youth, Adorned with the flowers of marks and the pistils of examples, Hanging with clusters of precious and supreme fruits, I bow to the one adorned with various silk garments. Clearer than the light of a hundred thousand suns, In an instant of radiant light gathering, Completely clearing away the thickets of karma and afflictions of beings, I bow to the one who increases the light of wisdom. The voice of Brahma, equal to all near and far, The great drum of the gods, showing the path of liberation, The sound of thunder, unborn and unceasing, I bow to the one with the sixty branches of melody. The nature of Dharma, the purity of the two, has become manifest, Seeing the divisions of as many phenomena as there are, All phenomena are completely and perfectly enlightened in every way, I bow to the mind that is free from obscurations and completely pure. Strength itself is like a vajra, fearlessness like a lion, Unmixed, pure like space, the Buddha's teaching is like the moon in water, The fruits of separation and maturation, I bow to the one adorned with sixty-four qualities. Like Indra's drum, clouds, Brahma, the sun, the wish-fulfilling jewel, Like sound, image, sky, earth, until the end of existence, The effortless and spontaneous activities, I bow to the one who engages without interruption. I respectfully prostrate and offer Samantabhadra's clouds of offerings, I confess all sins and rejoice in virtue.

O Self-nature of the Earth! I beseech you to turn the wheel of Dharma and remain steadfast! May the pure white accumulation of virtue be dedicated to the great Bodhi. O Protector, possessor of immeasurable treasures of qualities! For the sake of liberating limitless beings from samsara, I pray with unwavering, one-pointed mind. Please consider with your impartial heart of loving-kindness. May all the suffering of the three realms of samsara, along with its causes, be taken upon myself constantly in the three times. May all the happiness and virtue accumulated through the effort of body, speech, and mind be blessed to ripen for the beings of the three realms. Having divided the order of practicing the six paramitas, may the experience of realizing the correct view be clear, may the reality of self-nature purity be manifested, and may I be blessed to meditate in order to abandon habitual patterns. May the clouds of the two obscurations be dispelled, and in the sky of Dharmadhatu, may the mandala of the three Kayas, like the sun, be fully expanded, and may the rays of activity radiate in the ten directions, and may I be blessed to show the good path to beings. At all times, may I perfectly understand the meaning of your speech without error, and may I spread it in the ten directions with pure intention, and may I be blessed to expand the supreme vehicle's teachings. As soon as the appearances of this life fade away, lead me to the Tushita heaven with your compassionate hand. Until I attain the Joyful Land (the first Bhumi), may I be blessed to be satisfied with the nectar of the sacred Dharma. In short, may all the intentions of all the Buddhas and their sons, and all the accumulations of goodness, be quickly accomplished in myself and all beings as vast as space. This praise to Maitreya, the Protector, called "Opening the Door to the Essence of the Great Vehicle," was composed by the yogi Sonam Senge for the purpose of praying to the Maitreya of Khro Phu Monastery. Good! The Praise of Maitreya, the Regent.
