95 95 Thus, the meaning of what was bestowed in prose and spoken in verses is: All sentient beings possess the essence of the Buddha, and have abided in the life force of ordinary awareness since beginningless time. However, the reason why it does not manifest in oneself is that one's own mind has become obscured to oneself. That is because one's own mind obscures the luminous essence of the Buddha, and the adventitious defilement of the mind manifests in oneself, and because one experiences it as extremely clear, it obscures it, so one's own mind, the luminous essence of the Buddha, has become wasted. Therefore, the adventitious defilement of the mind that obscures the luminous mind, when it manifests and is experienced in oneself, is called "this-shore seeing"; the so-called "this-shore seer" is one who possesses the consciousness of grasping and clinging, and accumulates karma and afflictions separately, so that one is born involuntarily in the various realms of samsara due to the power of karma, and is therefore also established as an ordinary being. So, when the delusion of grasping and clinging, the other-powered consciousness of ignorance, vanishes into the expanse of reality, and the causes and conditions such as relying on the glorious and venerable Lama are fully assembled, and the interdependent connection is complete, then the luminous essence of the Buddha, the ordinary awareness of one's own mind on the other shore, will manifest. Does one see it after the consciousness of this-shore seeing ceases, or does one see it by relying on it? If asked, in the secret mantra path, when the body and mind are pressed at the crucial point by the binding of interdependence, the consciousness of this-shore seeing ceases, and after that, the wisdom of the means to see the luminous essence of the Buddha, one's own mind, can be done. However, the venerable Saraha, the father and son Shawaripa, and especially Je Gampopa, because the consciousness of this-shore seeing and the luminous mind of the essence of the Buddha arise simultaneously, relying on the consciousness of this-shore seeing, the luminous mind of the essence of the Buddha can be manifested, so this Dharma tradition is known as the Great Seal of Simultaneous Arising and Union of the Gampopa tradition. The consciousness of this-shore seeing, the nature of ignorance like a mirage, when one practices view and meditation on its own nature in the manner of self-awareness,
