Ah! The wonderful view of the Great Vehicle Dharma! Therefore, protect the weak lands with compassion. In this way, the fruits of virtue will be manifested in this life. Although the essence of the ultimate Dharma is free from elaboration, In the practice of the path, it is with elaboration. How is that? First, one must observe, If the thought of the observer is not introduced, The state of the heavenly realms cannot be known. Therefore, at the beginning, contemplation is very important. If one thoroughly examines the faults and shortcomings through contemplation, Then one will truly know what is beyond contemplation. That mindfulness that is free from contemplation, Should be left in its natural state, not with companions. That naturally arising wisdom without companions, When left uncorrected, sometimes, Is clear and bright, and refreshing. Like the ocean, calm and peaceful. It abides in a state free from conceptualization. Sometimes, although many thoughts arise, The basis of abiding is unshaken, in a state of mindfulness. These are called faultless calm abiding. If one becomes familiar with this, One will truly realize the correct view of detachment from extremes, And what is the essence of that? Free from attachment to calm abiding, One understands the object of observation and the observer as one. And one knows that the understanding is without inherent existence. From the knowing awareness itself, One is certain that there is nothing else. That itself is also free from the three: arising, abiding, and ceasing, That uncorrected awareness, When left in its natural state, is devoid of meditation. If not meditated upon, it remains in the state of awareness itself. If meditated upon diligently, it falls into the category of meditation. That is called ordinary awareness. There is no other way to cultivate it than to become familiar with it. If one becomes very familiar with it continuously, Even without focusing, there is no attachment whatsoever. Even if distracted, its essence never changes. Like the sky, it cannot be destroyed by characteristics. If one thoroughly understands this principle, One will accomplish the supreme benefit of benefiting the Dharma and beings, May the three seats, fully adorned with glory, be stable, Until the end of existence! This was also written at the request of Risa Sangye Chöpel, by the 7th Genchen Khyenrab Jampel Geleg Tendzin Nyima, also known as Geshe Khenchen Thubten Ödsal (Geshe Khenchen Gyaltsen Drakpa). Auspicious! Virtuous! At the request of Risa Sangye Chöpel.
