From the Sutra of the Origin of Discipline: From the Sutra of the Origin of Discipline: Furthermore, from the Sutra of the Origin of Discipline: If one is separated from Ha-sum-ma, etc., why would a vow-holder drink? This will undoubtedly turn into poison, and siddhis will not arise. Also, from the Tantra: Whoever becomes intoxicated with alcohol, many obstacles will arise for them. Whoever, being a practitioner, becomes intoxicated with alcohol, will suffer in a place of weeping and wailing. As it is said in the scripture: In times when the five degenerations are rampant, it is said that the reason why secret mantra substances like meat and alcohol are permissible to consume is that without the warmth of the practice of a vidyadhara, everything is mixed with flesh, blood, and alcohol. This also lacks vows. Those who practice according to the Dharma are criticized with skillful means. Such things will appear at the end of the teachings. Alas, from the hells, there is nowhere to go, alas! Thus it is said. Ah Ho! Guru Padmasambhava, the embodiment of all Buddhas; Kharchen Yeshe Tsogyal, the consort of supreme bliss and emptiness; Kunkhyen Longchen Rabjampa, beyond dualism; Drubwang Khyentse Özer, the Lama of beings in the three realms; Rigdzin Kunzang Sherab, the master of the Great Secret teachings; Gyalwa Yang Gonpa, the lineage holder of bodhicitta. From the depths of my heart, I pray to the Lamas of the Six-fold Lineage. Please look upon us with your compassionate eyes from the invisible, primordial realm, and bestow the light of supreme wisdom upon the minds of your disciples. May all appearances and thoughts be dissolved into the view of Ati, the Great Perfection beyond mind, and may we be liberated into the primordial, self-luminous realm of purity from the beginning, as the single, youthful vase body. Please grant your blessings! May we always be cared for by the Lamas, enter the supreme, unerring path, meet the self-luminous Great Perfection, the self-face of the Dharmakaya for our own benefit, and may we mature in the compassion for the benefit of others. Please grant your blessings from the Dharmadhatu! This was written by Gyalwa Yang Gonpa, at the request of the meditator Punya Ratna, may it be virtuous! From the Sutra of the Origin of Discipline:
