Victorious One, Radiant with a Thousand Lights. Victorious One, Radiant with a Thousand Lights. The Victorious One, Radiant with a Thousand Lights, is an emanation in the clear lake of Sindhu. O Guru, inseparable from the second Buddha of Oddiyana, know me! Although I have obtained the support of the eight freedoms, I am separated by the ten endowments. As death may come at any time, look upon me, bound by attachment to this life. Even the accumulation of causes for practicing the Dharma is bound by the net of distraction and busyness. I, who meditate on the eight worldly concerns as Dharma, may my Dharma practice increase in solitary places. Constantly urged by renunciation, may I make this leisure and opportunity meaningful. When I myself am about to die, not to mention monastery and close relatives, even this body that I hold dear must be abandoned in the terrifying charnel ground. Therefore, from this very moment, may I forcibly sever the clinging of attachment, and in the mountains, forests, and remote places, may I gain control over my own mind. To realize the nature of the mind, the blessings of the Guru must enter. May I always have compassion for beings and unwavering devotion and faith. The essence of the ocean of the true path is to familiarize oneself with it in every way in one's being, so that from coming and going, permanence and annihilation, existence and non-existence, may I see the truth that transcends. In short, whatever happiness or suffering, good or bad, may occur in this life, the next life, or the bardo, there is no refuge other than the Guru, may both aims be spontaneously accomplished. At the request of the abbot Samtenpa, the head of the Rabjung, Rigdzin Jigme Lingpa wrote this.
