Verse Collection, Chapter Thirty-three: A Talk on Disgust with Distractions, Called "Tok's Wisdom." Verse Collection, Chapter Thirty-three: A Talk on Disgust with Distractions, Called "Tok's Wisdom." A Talk on Disgust with Distractions, Called "Tok's Wisdom." Homage to the Realm of Perfect Peace. Our teacher, Shakyamuni, having abandoned his crown and in the Sindhū Sea (Indus River), possessing the conduct of a Universal Monarch, is inseparable in the center of my heart. It is wonderful to have obtained a human body, but in childhood, one is thoughtless and unrestrained; in youth, one is seduced by delusion. Generating renunciation is almost too late. Even having entered the teachings, the end of one's actions is reversed. One is included in the ranks of those who merely hold the signs (of a monk). One mistakes fear-protection and good wishes for Dharma. Now, when one thinks, one feels sorrow. Because one is not taken care of by a virtuous friend, one is ignorant of the meaning of the ocean of the Tripitaka. One mistakes superficial instructions for Dharma. Meeting the All-Knowing One is almost too late. With the coquettish Dharma of attending monasteries, dances, songs, musical instruments, and throwing (offerings), town rituals, seeking gain, attachment, and hatred, what a mistaken way of thinking to presume oneself a monk! Even if one relies on solitary mountain retreats, one consumes the wealth of sinful people. One recklessly engages in the five wrong livelihoods. One is saddened by not realizing that one's own mind is rigid. The meaning of staying in retreat for a few years is wasted by the faith of fools. While one's own mind is ordinary, it is amazing to hold the position of a lama. While being ignorant of the allowances and prohibitions of the three vows and the key points of the generation and completion stages, one kills cause and effect with the view of emptiness. It is strange to imitate accomplished ones. If one realizes emptiness, it is impossible not to have compassion. If one has compassion, then benefiting others will naturally arise. The supreme mind of enlightenment without an object is only possessed by accomplished ones who have seen the truth. The supreme teacher and the Six Ornaments and Two Supremes, etc., if they fully accomplish the twelve qualities of training, then we all, in these eight worldly dharmas, though claiming to benefit others, are only concerned with our own benefit. The great teacher did not have horses and saddles. Even the places where he stayed were just caves. But we are attached to monasteries, thinking of them as homes, and even the stupas and possessions exchanged for gold and silver are now seen as the cause of being born as spirits. Although there is no shame in seeking wealth through deception, those who accumulate wealth by relying on empty fame, with this ritual of not letting it go to waste,

I fear that meditation will be harmed. They neither carry out the teachings nor understand what is said. Rather than engaging in teaching and learning with hypocritical teachers and disciples, It is better to dwell in a mountain valley free from bias and attachment, Taking the summit of the mountain in front as an example, guarding the three doors of liberation. In the meditation that is free from the five aggregates, If the higher seeing of the eight consciousnesses purified does not arise, Merely gaining mental stability is like a child's game, Do not expect to attain the truth of the noble ones by abiding in this way! Even if you master all the fields of knowledge, such as grammar and logic, And see the truth of the ocean-like sutras and tantras, If you do not realize the essence of your own mind as it is, Even a pandita is bound by the noose of grasping and clinging. Therefore, I have slightly understood the meaning of the profound scriptures, Even though there is not a trace of arrogance, self-importance, or pride, But relying on these, distraction increases, which is sad. Ever since I have lived in the charnel ground of Chimphu (mchims phu) forest, The gatherings of offerings and disciples have been lurking. Even sleep is transformed into great luminosity, But the cycle of actions and deeds increases the winds of karma. The cause of that is also when one is free from selfishness, If one abandons benefiting others, the mind of aspiration and practice will decline, And one will break the vows of the five families, Although the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas proclaim this, All the truths of the path rely on provisional words, The definitive meaning relies on meaning, and meditating there, One will realize that sentient beings have never existed, Benefiting beings, completely liberating from samsara, Emaho! Although meditation and the essence of reality are one, But accompanied by the winds of karma of the followers, Before the defilements of the five aggregates are exhausted, Without abandoning benefiting others with the mind, it is naturally accomplished. If one does not see the correct noble path of mindfulness, Even the first pure mindfulness, For things that are not to be learned, it will be very far, Seeing these is the kindness of the Great Perfection. The meditation of seeing phenomena as empty, And the higher seeing of the Mind-Only school, Saying that they are united by the mind of clinging, It is strange to fabricate a new Prasangika Madhyamaka tenet. Now, not meditating, meditating only increases the winds of karma, Now, not doing, doing only raises the mind of dharma. These philosophical systems created by mind and dharma, Disturb the essence of peace, which is without inherent existence. The Sugata-garbha, the essence of self-nature, is also empty, Is also the basis for taking the five aggregates, The accumulation of meritorious deeds for the benefit of others is also a slave to worldliness, Even ordinary disciples
