Chapter Forty-Four of the Tales Collection: The Story of the Auspicious Radiant Stupa, Ketaka Who Eliminates Afflictions. Chapter Forty-Four of the Tales Collection: The Story of the Auspicious Radiant Stupa, Ketaka Who Eliminates Afflictions. The Story of the Auspicious Radiant Stupa, named Ketaka Who Eliminates Afflictions. Homage to the one who possesses the eight smiles! The activities of the Buddhas are immeasurable, one in taste with the minds of the holy beings, a sea of benefiting others, an emanation body skilled in crafts. I prostrate to the great stupa that accomplishes the benefit of beings! Here, I will briefly narrate the history of the stupa known as Lodon Teng Stupa, located east of the glorious Samye Unchanging Spontaneously Accomplished Great Temple. This snowy land of Tibet is tamed by the three protectors, and King Songtsen Gampo, an emanation of the noble Avalokiteśvara, initiated the tradition of the Buddha's teachings. During the time of Manjushri's emanation, Trisong Detsen, the teachings flourished greatly. During the time of the Lord Ralpa Chen, an emanation of the Lord of Secrets, he served by correcting the scriptures. Thereafter, during a certain period in the later dissemination of the teachings, when the Kadampa tradition of Atiśa's lineage flourished, a disciple of Geshe Tonpa, named Chennga Tsultrim Bar, due to past imprints, was proficient in Sanskrit from a young age. There was no secret mantra teaching translated into Tibetan, both earlier and later, that he did not know. Relying on the Five Stages of Nagarjuna, he realized the truth of the nature of reality, and thus the Dharma protectors became his servants. It is said that he also built Gyama Trigung Zingmo Monastery. He modeled after Atiśa's lotus heap and built many lotus heaps made of precious jewels, among which the most excellent is this glorious Lodon Teng Auspicious Radiant Stupa. Moreover, the goddess Saraswati and the noble Tara prophesied it, and he also went to India. He met the master of Vajrasana. The master also prophesied that this was a yidam deity and bestowed the subsequent permission of Saraswati. He prophesied that he should practice this. Later, he returned to Tibet and practiced Saraswati, and five acharyas appeared, who offered heaps of precious jewels. He then thought of building a stupa.

During the time of construction (of the stupa), Majo Choepon and others served as attendants and patrons. The responsibility for building the stupa fell upon Gelong Tsanangpa, who, after geomantic examination, prophesied that it should be built on a turtle-shaped stone where the Naga king was pleased to reside. Afterward, the Lama himself performed the pacification and consecration. There, a temple resembling Mount Meru was built. The style of the stupa adopted the circular form of Sakangwo Shong. The craftsmen were also merely symbolic, and the stupa was completed in seven days, hence it was said to be self-arisen. At that time, there were five earthquakes. A one-cubit-long statue of Wrathful Vajrapani, a handful of Buddha's relics, Dromtönpa's hair, eight mustard seed-sized relics of Khampa Chönyi Gyatso, a rainbow-like Dharma robe, and many relics of the Dharmakaya were placed inside as consecration objects. When the stupa was being brought into the temple, among the patrons, there was an emanation of Saraswati, a woman from Kham, who had three sons, the eldest named Tashi, the middle one named Öser, and the youngest named Dönden. The Lama said, "Mother, do not stand there foolishly, bring Tashi, Öser, and Dönden here." Then the five classes of Dakinis invited them with a rainbow path, effortlessly bringing them into the temple. Their names became known as Tashi Öser. During the consecration, countless Buddhas and Bodhisattvas dissolved into it. Rainbows descended from the practice place of Orgyen, and everyone saw a rainbow tent covering the top of the stupa. As a sign of the presence of wisdom, warmth remained uninterrupted. Above, offering goddesses made offerings, and the Four Great Kings and Palden Lhamo took care of it, so the harm from the eight classes of spirits was minimal in that place. Whoever visited and circumambulated it would receive blessings and would not be harmed by the eight classes of planetary and Naga spirits. Because there were four immovable pegs in the four directions, it would not be harmed even by the Mongol army. In front was a stupa piled with lotuses, inside which were a jewel ornament, one hundred thousand Nagas, various precious substances, various soils and waters from India, and a wheel to repel the Mongols, hence its blessings were great. Thus, these supports of body, speech, and mind are manifested from the immeasurable activities of all the Buddhas for the benefit of sentient beings.

Appearing and incarnating, with great altruistic deeds, through seeing, hearing, remembering, and touching, directly and indirectly planting the seeds of liberation, therefore, these have meaningful connections. If one respects and serves these, it is like offering to the real Buddha, having the same benefits, therefore, the noble Manjushri was told: Offering to me now and offering to my image in the future, there is not the slightest difference between the two, the merit is the same, and the result is the same. Hearing this, generate extraordinary conviction, and faith as the gateway to the Dharma, for the benefit of all sentient beings who have been our parents, led by the seven-branch offering, perform extensive prostrations, offerings, circumambulations, and prayers. This is also the oral instruction of Khenpo Rinchen Samdrub of the Rabjung Monastery, according to the oral account of the tattered pilgrimage guide, fulfilling the wishes. For the victorious ones, from the previous chronicles, after undisputed cleaning, Dzogchenpa Rangjung Dorje installed the silver statue of the precious one in Samye Monastery, and at the same time, when the consecration arrived, it was secretly written by the monastery of the superior's seat. The forty-fourth chapter of the collection of stories is complete. The forty-fourth chapter of the collection of stories, the story of the auspicious radiant stupa.
