Chapter One. Chapter One. The treatise entitled "A Rain of Joy, a Treasury of Precious Qualities." In Sanskrit: Guṇa Kośa Ratna Pramoda Pṛṣṭi Nāma. In Tibetan: A Rain of Joy, a Treasury of Precious Qualities. Homage to the Three Jewels. The letter of fame of the three jewels, after making the pearl vines extremely happy, the faces of the daughters of Mara are like groves of white lotuses, and for those who do evil, the power of the Buddha is manifested. The treasure that purifies the qualities of the supreme minds, if it is firmly established in one place, it will emerge like waves, and although this clamorous sound does not show beauty, it is worthy of listening to as a support for speaking the Dharma. From beginningless time, those who are afflicted by the plague of birth, old age, sickness, and death, the great medicine nectar that can heal this disease, if they abandon this Dharma, how shall I advise these people? In the wilderness of samsara, which has been a friend for a long time, the head and limbs are cut off and suffer, and those who will suffer in the future are hidden, and they are still greedy for the happiness of the heavens and are ignorant. Such ignorant people will fall again from this place, in the three lower realms and the gods without perception, the heretics who are incomplete in the borderlands, and wander in places where no Buddha appears. There is no time to seek an opportunity, and the cruel punishment of weapons is repeatedly inflicted on the iron-burning ground, and the hell beings who cannot be killed, are still caught in the net of evil deeds of anger. There is no need to say more about the poverty and suffering of the hungry ghosts who cannot even find pus and blood. Rivers and trees wither in an instant when they are seen, and the suffering of burning internal organs is endless. Due to the power of obscuration, the lifespan is uncertain. Animals eat each other, and the cruel vows of hunters take their lives, and they are tamed for use, and what is the use of being born in this difficult situation? The work of livelihood is extended for a very long time, and there is no opportunity for compassion, the formless realm and, the gods without perception who are cut off from hearing and thinking, and heretical views arise at the time of death, so there is no leisure. Although they rely heavily on the two-legged vehicle, their consciousness is not meritorious, and the barbarians who are strictly imprisoned and ruled, wander in the forest of upside-down acceptance and rejection. The dumb ones who have broken the vows of the senses,

Even if encountering captains like those of ocean-going vessels, Like the clamor of being seized by a rock demon, Suffering in vast rural monasteries where language is incomprehensible. Having obtained the great ship that crosses the ocean of birth, Having once again obtained the waving banner of discriminating awareness, Not rejoicing at the coming of the Buddhas, Holding wrong views, tormented by demons. Having fallen into the dark, abysmal ravine Of an age abandoned by all the Buddhas, Even striving to rise, one constantly treads the wrong path, Going further and further down into a wretched fall. In places where the winds of sin and suffering rage, Tired and fearful, with tainted merit, The eight unfavorable conditions of those who begrudge the Dharma, Reflecting on this, make your leisure meaningful. In the pure land of the central country, with faculties and Limbs fully complete, have faith in the object of faith. The wish-fulfilling tree of becoming human, Whose flowers of karmic fruition are not destroyed by the frost of sin, is exceedingly rare. The victorious Udumbara flower appears in the world, The garden of the teachings where the flowers of Dharma bloom, Abiding without decay, and truly entering. Those who rely on the shade of the holy ones are even fewer. Because of the tree that one possesses oneself, and The Udumbara flower that one possesses through the influence of others, With the ten perfections that possess both qualities, This association with the eight leisures is difficult to obtain again. Why is it likened to the neck of a turtle And the yoke of a wooden cart? The number of pretas and Hell-beings is known in order, as many as the stars Dividing day and night for humans and animals. Therefore, at the time of obtaining the great ship of leisure, If one does not cross to the far shore of the ocean of suffering, Then the listening that the guest on the path of Dharma seeks and searches for Will tend towards being meaningless. From the work called "A Rain of Joy, a Treasury of Qualities," the chapter on distinguishing leisure and endowments, the first chapter is complete. Chapter One.
