'The Six Limbs of Yoga' A Treatise by Shavaripa In Sanskrit: Yoga-ṣaṭ-aṅga-nāma. In Tibetan: 'The Six Limbs of Yoga' Homage to glorious Vajrasattva! Separation, meditation, Breath control, retention, and, Recollection and samadhi, Are known as the six limbs of yoga. Immovability is having the three, The winds enter the dhūtī channel, Signs of cessation of inner and outer thoughts, Is the limb of separation. After the signs have become stable, Wisdom, discernment, joy, and bliss arise, Single-pointed, unmoving, without thought, Is the limb of meditation. The ten winds enter the central channel, Within the bindus of the four chakras, The winds move in and out, Is the limb of breath control. The life wind enters the bindu, Wind and mind abide in the great bliss chakra, Grasping the bindu of hūṃ, Is the limb of retention. By the power of wind and mind grasping the bindu, The light of the caṇḍālī fire appears, A special bliss and warmth arise, Is the limb of recollection. After the ten signs have been perfected, The light of the great bindu appears. Within the various great bindus, Lines of black threads arise. Within them are the six realms, etc., And extremely subtle nirmanakayas, One sees many sambhogakayas, Are various images of clear light. When the mind dissolves into that light, Is the ultimate limb of samadhi. 'The Six Limbs of Yoga' was spoken by the glorious Shavaripa To the great pandita Vibhuti Chandra. Translated by himself.
