Rise! To the great glorious Vajrakumara, I take refuge by recognizing my own nature! Do as much as you can like this. Secondly, with the refuge field abiding as a witness, keep in mind the meaning of entering with aspiration. Hung! For those who have not realized the Dharmadhatu, with great compassion, through the profound yoga of the two stages, generate the supreme mind to liberate the three realms. Visualize clearly by expressing it in an appropriate way like this. Finally, dissolve the refuge field into yourself and remain in the state of ultimate Bodhicitta. Thirdly, there are six: Generating the deity, accumulating merit, purifying obscurations, supplicating, receiving empowerment, and placing the mind on Thatness. The first is, Ah! The clinging to phenomena and beings dissolves into the Dharmadhatu, In the center of the great realm of appearance and existence, In the sky in front of me, in the expanse of five lights, On a lion throne, lotus, sun, and moon, The root guru Vajrasattva, White and clear, holding a vajra and bell, Rejoicing in the bliss of his own light, Adorned with silk, jewels, and bone ornaments, At his heart, the essence of wisdom, Shri Vajrakumara, Dark blue, with two hands holding a phurba, Father and mother united, in charnel ground attire, In the midst of a blazing fire of bliss and warmth, Sitting on a lotus and sun seat of arrogance, Radiating splendor and glory, Transformed into the essence of all refuges. Secondly, there are two: Performing the seven-branch practice and offering the mandala. The first is, Om Ah Hum! From the Dharmadhatu, wisdom arises spontaneously, To the guru, the glorious peaceful and wrathful deities, I prostrate and offer clouds of offerings like the ocean, I confess all sins, obscurations, and transgressions from my heart, I rejoice in virtue and urge the turning of the Dharma wheel, I request you to remain forever, and all roots of virtue, I dedicate to the essence of perfect enlightenment, May the wisdom of Vajra be quickly attained! The second is, Om Ah Hum! Samsara and Nirvana, phenomena and beings, wealth and, My own body, aggregates, elements, and sense bases, From the pure mandala of grasping and clinging, I offer to the guru, the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Om Sarva Ratna Mandala Puja Ah Hum! Thirdly, At the heart, on a moon disc, the syllable Hum, Surrounded by a garland of mantras, From which a stream of nectar Bodhicitta, Falls like rain and dissolves into myself, Cleansing diseases, evil spirits, sins, obscurations, and impairments, Great bliss and wisdom are increased. Om Vajrasattva Kilikilaya Hum Hum! Thus, the mantra of the glorious Vajrasattva and the Bhagavan Vajrakumara, peaceful and wrathful.

Recite as much as possible. The fourth is: Hūṃ Hūṃ Hūṃ! From the unborn Dharmadhātu, the wisdom mind of the form body, the Guru, the great glorious peaceful and wrathful deity, the essence of all refuges combined, from the heart, I respectfully pray, urging the lineage of profound mind commitments, bless me, Guru Lord, grant accomplishments, Yidam deity, great bliss empowerment, assembly of ḍākinīs, may the three doors ripen and be liberated, and may the rainbow body be accomplished. Thus, with devotion and intense longing, pray again and again. The fifth is: Peaceful and wrathful deity, lord of all families, entering into equanimity, the stream of bodhicitta, descending from the crown through the four places, may the wisdom of the four empowerments increase. Recite and contemplate thus, and hold the mind. The sixth is: At the time of concluding the session, the Guru, peaceful and wrathful father and mother, dissolve into light with great joy and merge into oneself. Visualize that one's own body, speech, and mind are inseparable from the Guru's body, speech, and mind, mix the mind and intention, the nature of awareness is naked without object, the radiance is luminous beyond expression. Practice the state of coemergent union in which the two are inseparable, and learn to integrate it into the path. Thus, as it appears in the root text and the Glorious Great Perfect Profound Drop, in the manner of condensing the recitation into its essence, composed by Padma Osel Do-ngak Lingpa, a servant pleasing to the Lotus-Born Guru, may this virtue cause all limitless sentient beings to realize the state of Guru Vajrakumara in this very life. Sarva dā śrī yo bhava tu. From the Essential Drop of Activity Phurba, the Essence of Preliminary Yoga.
