The third, sexual misconduct, is: The third, sexual misconduct, is: As it says in the Treasury of Knowledge: "Desiring to engage in what is not proper to engage in, there are four aspects of sexual misconduct." Thus, from the five aspects of basis, intention, action, affliction, and culmination. First, among the four aspects of the basis, what is the object of sexual activity that should not be engaged in, led by a partner? These are one's own wife who has been possessed since childhood through marriage, a prostitute who has been given a bride-price, and those given by others for the sake of merit. Objects that should not be engaged in are: a wife possessed by another, a prostitute who has not been paid a bride-price but has been paid by another, a fully ordained nun protected by the banner of Dharma, a female novice, a celibate laywoman, relatives up to seven generations of parents, a young woman protected by parents, and hermaphrodites, etc. Improper places are the mouth and excretory passages. Improper locations are stupas and temples, as well as places in the open presence of many people, and uneven or hard surfaces that are harmful to the one being engaged with. Improper times are: even if it is proper to engage, being in menstruation, lactating, fully pregnant, being ill or arising from it, which is not proper to engage in, and excessive engagement without knowing shame. Intention is: not a mistaken thought like mistaking another's wife for one's own, but the motivation to engage in sexual activity with all four limbs or any part of them in any place where it is not proper to engage. Action is: based on such a basis and intention, that action manifests as a physical or verbal expression. Affliction is: generally related to the three poisons, especially the desire that completes the action. Culmination is: the feeling arising from the contact of the two organs, possessed by craving, from which the path of sexual misconduct is completed. The third, sexual misconduct, is:
