The very object to be attained, namely, the supreme other shore, is shown to be different from this internal and external conventional reality. The very object to be attained, namely, the supreme other shore, is shown to be different from this internal and external conventional reality. What is said is also of the same meaning, that is, "How this appears" means that this internal and external appearing to consciousness is conventional. "Other than this" means that other than this conventional dharma, the nature of reality is the ultimate, that is, the other shore, or the supreme, or the ultimate. That is the ultimate truth, the other side of the conventional truth of the two truths. Therefore, it is said to be the other side. Thus, that which is ultimate is said to be different from the conventional, which also refutes some who believe that the two truths are inseparable. Furthermore, some believe that the objects appearing to consciousness are conventional, and the part of them that is empty of themselves is the ultimate truth, which is very wrong. Because that which is empty of itself cannot be the ultimate truth, and that which is the ultimate truth cannot be empty of itself. Moreover, the pure knowledge of these will be explained and taught extensively. Similarly, it is also arbitrary to consider whatever appears as conventional and whatever is empty as ultimate. Because both appearance and emptiness are present in the conventional, and both appearance and emptiness are complete in the ultimate. It would be absurd to say that the appearance of the nature of reality is also conventional, and it would be extremely absurd to say that the emptiness of the conventional is also ultimate, which would be harmful. Other knowledge of these will also be shown in other instructions. The very object to be attained, namely, the supreme other shore, is shown to be different from this internal and external conventional reality.
