If self-emptiness and ultimate truth are synonymous, that is too extreme. If self-emptiness and ultimate truth are synonymous, that is too extreme. Similarly, if one considers self-emptiness and ultimate truth to be synonymous, then the two obscurations, being self-empty, would also become ultimate truth. If one accepts this, then these two obscurations could not be abandoned by any antidote, and they would also become the object of the noble wisdom's pure self-awareness. As the glorious protector Maitreya said, "The object of the noble ones, etc." And the noble Asanga also said, "Why is it called ultimate? Because it is the object of the noble wisdom's pure awareness." Therefore, it is said. If self-emptiness and ultimate truth are synonymous, that is too extreme.
