Therefore, he was named "Endowed with Milk." The prince grew up and wandered in the garden with many children. When he was playing in the sandalwood and Gośīrṣa forest, he saw in the sky, in a tent surrounded by rainbow light, the Medicine King Buddha, who was exceedingly beautiful, like a lotus, surpassing the light of the sun and moon, possessing the splendor of a golden mountain, adorned with marks and signs, teaching the Dharma to his retinue. Having seen this, the prince thought, 'Alas! Why have I not obtained a body adorned with marks and signs?' As soon as he generated this thought, the Buddha's form disappeared. Then, the prince was oppressed by sorrow, and he did not play with the children, nor did he desire the girls. He came to the sandalwood grove and resided in his own palace. He closed the door and thought, 'Sentient beings are tormented by desire, and their faults are very numerous. What I desire is the supreme body of perfect wisdom. If I also engage in actions afflicted by the disease of desire, what difference is there between me and ordinary sentient beings?' Therefore, I should abandon desire, hatred, ignorance, and pride, and I should tame myself and seek the true path. I think I should renounce the household life and go forth from home.' At that time, his parents thought, 'The prince does not play like this and has also abandoned the pleasures of the five desires. Who has harmed him?' Then they went to the prince and spoke verses: The Dharma palace of auspicious radiance, adorned with various beautiful trees, flowers blooming, melodious birds flying, surpassing all the four continents, how delightful! Surrounded by beautiful women, who are your retinue. Your father and mother are we! Possessing inexhaustible treasures of wealth, like a merchant who has lost precious goods and food. Why are you so unhappy like this? Alone, you are sorrowful. Who is it that disturbs your mind? Speak well, and I will punish the wrongdoer.' At that time, the prince replied, 'No one has harmed me, how can I speak falsely to the king? When I was playing in the sandalwood grove, I saw the Buddha's body endowed with excellent marks, like a blue lotus.'

O Bhagavan, possessor of radiant form! You appear like a heap of gold in Jambudvipa, Various rays of light emanate in all ten directions, The light of jewels, sun, moon, fire, and stars, Is subdued by the light of the Buddha's body. Having seen such a sight, my mind is greatly stirred, For all beings tormented by birth, aging, sickness, and death, For the sake of liberating sentient beings from suffering, I will accomplish a body of wisdom with marks and signs, Becoming inconceivable in power, ability, and strength, Extensively benefiting all sentient beings, I do not desire beautiful women of desire, I will renounce and practice yoga, I long to wear the saffron robes of liberation, I request that you, my parents, also renounce, Together, we will cultivate enlightenment. For those who are bound by desire, It destroys all virtuous qualities without exception, And casts them into the suffering realms of lower rebirths. Therefore, when one renounces in the Buddha's teachings, Whoever obstructs or hinders that renunciation, Obtains great sin equal to the five heinous crimes. For some excellent individuals who renounce, All white virtuous qualities greatly increase, They go beyond the realm of birth, death, and samsara. We are without obstacles, possessing perfect enjoyment, Having obtained the precious human body with leisure and opportunity, Awakened by the karmic seeds of previous virtuous practice, We clearly see the Buddha, the King of Medicine. I will truly establish myself in virtuous Dharma. We request renunciation from that Buddha. Then, the king, along with his retinue, went to where the Buddha, the King of Medicine, was. Having bowed to the feet of the Bhagavan with their heads, they spoke in verses: Bhagavan, I am bound by the net of Mara, Acting wickedly, indulging in the five desires, Carelessness is the root of all suffering, Bhagavan, I pray that you grant us renunciation, I pray that you liberate us from the bonds of the net of afflictions. Shariputra, the Bhagavan, the King of Medicine, granted King Guna Sagara and his retinue renunciation and bestowed ordination. The prince and eighty-four thousand of his retinue, and many thousands of women who were not part of the retinue, also renounced. All of them proceeded to the essence of enlightenment. Shariputra, that King Guna Sagara is now myself.
