As it is written in the Sutra of the Holy Complete Illumination: Sixteen hundred thousand kalpas before Kashyapa Buddha, in the world appeared the Bhagavan named Immaculate Lotus Eye. In a mango grove on the outskirts of Vaishali, a Vedic teacher named Bharaha established a great Ishvara (Shiva) sacrifice. King Shingkara honored him with the sacrifice of livestock by all his subjects. They constantly worshiped trees and forests. Once, as the Vedic teacher was sitting in the woods, a Ruru deer went to a branch of an Akara tree and said these words to the Tirthika teacher: Alas! In this difficult-to-obtain human body, who would practice the evil path when they have obtained it? This life is like dew on a blade of grass, like a bubble of water. Even if one seeks liberation, it is the cause of bad migrations. After saying this, the Vedic teacher said: By the blessings of the great Ishvara and the four Vedas, this Ruru deer is speaking human language. This is a bad omen, do not be lazy, act quickly, and perform the supreme averting rituals. The deer said: For example, beings who live by nourishing their bodies and lives are led to the door of death by being filled with food. Desiring the bliss of liberation, yet sacrificing flesh and blood in the Ishvara's grove, that itself is a bad omen. Just as thousands of small Kara worms gather in the mother's womb and destroy it. Desiring to attain liberation, yet worshiping Ishvara with flesh and blood, that is a bad omen of falling into bad migrations. When a moth desires to go to a good migration, it rushes to the light of a lamp and dies. Desiring to attain liberation, yet taking harm as a measure, and sin as a measure, that is a bad omen of falling into bad migrations. The Vedic teacher said: By sacrificing life, Ishvara is pleased, so it is said in the Vedas themselves. The Ruru's lies are an obstacle to virtue. I am diligent in worshiping Ishvara. The Ruru said: If I, Ruru, have spoken falsely, may my tongue, head, hands, and feet be split into a hundred pieces. If it is the supreme word of truth, then Ishvara" } ] ============================================================

"May you fall down immediately!" As soon as he said this, the body of Ishvara fell into pieces. The heretics believed and said: "Emerald-colored golden horns, conch-shell face, coral hooves. Ishvara, I am tired of your Dharma, please grant me a way to enter the Dharma." Thus they spoke. Ruru said: "The World-Knowing Bhagavan Buddha, who dwells with eyes of unstained lotus, turned the Wheel of Dharma in Varanasi. If you seek liberation, go there." Thus, thousands of opponents of heretical doctrines abandoned the Vedas and entered the Dharma taught by the eyes of the unstained lotus. Having entered, they attained the Four Noble Truths. Shariputra, in this way, the Bodhisattva shows the conduct of Ruru for the benefit of sentient beings. If you think Ruru is someone else, do not look at it that way. Know that this is the young Licchavi. Understand it thus. The eleventh chapter, the Jataka of Ruru. Twelfth, Eleventh Chapter, The Jataka of Ruru.
