To the root Lama, the embodiment of all refuges, I take refuge until the essence of enlightenment. In order to establish all beings on the right ground, I generate the supreme mind of aspiration and action, Lama, know! Impermanence, death, when it will come is uncertain, helplessly going to the terrifying realm of Yama, Driven by the force of karma meeting the river, Lama, know, bless my being! When the terrifying appearances of the bardo arise, tormented by fear, dread, terror, and suffering, At the time when the illusory city of the body impermanently collapses, may consciousness not be confused in the bardo, Lama, know! When overcome by the sleep of ignorance and delusion, may the clear light mother and child quickly merge. Leisure and fortune are hard to find, death is impermanent, Lama, know the causes, effects, faults! May the glorious Lama, the embodiment of all Buddhas, hold me in succession in all lifetimes! If I sink into the mud of suffering and samsara, when the five poisons manifest in my being, do not let the power of negative karma Take over, root Lama, know! When beings are tormented by the ripening of karma, Lama Vajrasattva, know, destroy all sins and obscurations! Body, possessions, and all roots of virtue, I offer, please accept, Lama, know! With reverence in the three doors, I rely on you, Lama, may you ripen my being with the four empowerments, Lama, know! At the time of death, may that drop of light, the consciousness, merge indivisibly with the expanse of wisdom, Lama, know! In all lifetimes, may I never be separated from the true Lama, and enjoying the glory of the Dharma, Perfecting the qualities of the grounds and paths, may I quickly attain the state of Vajradhara!
