Recognizing conceptual thought as mind. Recognizing conceptual thought as mind. Secondly, there are three uncommon recognitions: recognition in terms of view, recognition in terms of meditation, and recognition in terms of sudden realization. First, recognition in terms of the view of abiding reality, as stated in the pith instruction guidance: Then recognize conceptual thought as mind, recognize mind as emptiness, recognize emptiness as appearance, recognize appearance and emptiness as non-dual, and recognize non-duality as self-liberation. There are five in total. First, recognizing conceptual thought as mind is like this: whatever appears as various objects of grasping, all phenomena are grasped separately by conceptual thought as "this is this, that is that." However, even the same basis appears as countless differences due to the differences in beings; even the same person appears as different enemies, friends, and neutrals due to different conceptual thoughts, as exemplified by dreamlike appearances. All phenomena are merely illusions of conceptual thought, and there is no real establishment outside. Therefore, no matter how conceptual thoughts of objects and subjects arise, everything is made by the mind and does not deviate from the nature of mind itself. The nature of mind is unseen, not seen, and will not be seen even by the Buddhas of the three times. Therefore, the conceptual thoughts that represent its characteristics are not separate from this clear and vivid arising of conceptual thought. By recognizing in this way, one can ascertain that the various conceptual thoughts of objects and subjects are inseparable from the mind. As stated in the root text of the Longchen Nyingtik: The mind's memory, thought, and power of wisdom, all that arises as appearance and awareness, do not deviate from awareness itself. Similarly, in the Vajra Tent Tantra, it is also said: Outside of the precious mind, there are neither Buddhas nor sentient beings. Thus it is said. Recognizing mind itself as emptiness. Recognizing conceptual thought as mind.
