Settling the Three Doors. Settling the Three Doors. Fourth, there are two divisions: settling and restoring. First, regarding settling the three doors, there are three parts: why to settle, how to settle, and the benefits shown. Why is it necessary to settle? From "The Burning Lamp": "Having separated samsara and nirvana, settle the body, speech, and mind." Also, from "The Clear Expanse": "Due to the arising and disturbance of body, speech, and mind, settle them for the sake of their liberation." Thus, by distinguishing the samsara and nirvana of the outer, inner, and three doors separately, whatever arises as a phenomenon of samsara, which is a conceptual thought to be abandoned, and whatever arises as a virtuous conceptual thought, which is a dharma that transcends antidotes, one should focus awareness single-pointedly on whatever aspect is clear. By binding the sense consciousness without letting it stray to other objects, the six consciousnesses gather into one, the mind that scatters to other objects is pacified, and conceptual thought transforms, even transforming into non-conceptualization. However, if one initially and forcefully suppresses thoughts through special preliminary practices, the elements and arising become disturbed. In addition to the mind not settling, it becomes an obstacle again, and it is difficult to generate samadhi. Considering this, one should not focus on the supports of the six objects of perception, nor conceptualize any signs of what should be abandoned or what is an antidote, but rather settle in one's own nature, naturally, that is, in the uncorrected essence. Therefore, one must settle in one's own state. How to settle the three doors? From "Thal Gyur": "At this time, the key points of body, speech, and mind, those with yoga should settle." Also, from "After Death": "Then, the three, body, speech, and mind, should skillfully settle." Therefore, the key point of the body is to remain without accepting or rejecting good or bad, with the mind in whatever posture is comfortable, such as cross-legged, squatting, or lying down, like a corpse in a charnel ground, without moving. The key point of speech is to remain in a state devoid of speech, without artificially adjusting even the movement of the life-sustaining wind, like a mute person, naturally. The key point of the mind is to abandon the elaborations of virtuous, non-virtuous, and neutral, and to settle naturally like a cloudless sky, liberated from memory and distraction. As it is said in the extensive and intermediate Prajnaparamita Sutras: "To practice yoga on the Prajnaparamita is to practice yoga on the sky."

It is the same as the foundation. Thus, endowed with the yoga of non-action and non-doing, the three doors are left uncorrected and remain in their natural state. For example, just as muddy water becomes clear when left undisturbed, it is said, "If water is not muddy, it is clear; if the mind is not fabricated, it is clear." This is similar. The qualities are shown as follows: In the "Vast Expanse of Clarity," it says, "Who has subdued it into such stillness? The disturbances of the elements, sickness, and adversity are pacified, and grasping is naturally liberated." Thus, by subduing it into stillness for twenty-one days, seven days, or three days, etc., the signs of temporary stillness are that the body remains still without moving, speech does not desire to speak, and the mind does not engage in worldly affairs. The elements and the five elements do not conflict, and sickness and bad omens do not arise. One naturally dwells in clear and non-conceptual meditation. Ultimately, the grasping of the three doors will be naturally purified and liberated. Subduing the three doors into stillness.
