Two. The Translator's Homage Two. The Translator's Homage Homage to the Bodhisattva Manjushri, who has become a youth! This is to say, as stated in the Condensed Mother Sutra: 'Why is this called a Bodhisattva? Those who sever attachment regard all attachments as exhausted. The enlightenment of the Buddhas touches upon the absence of attachment. Therefore, this one obtains the name of Bodhisattva.' Therefore, Manjushri Bodhisattva is the name. At the very beginning of generating the mind of enlightenment, until not attaining Buddhahood, he vowed to remain undefiled by worldly dharmas, therefore homage to him who has become a youth. This was written by the translator Gewa Lo during the time of translation. Regarding this, Sharawa said: At the beginning, like the Indian scribes, homage was paid to whatever one had faith in. Later, during the time of the ruler Mangyul Ralpa Chen, in the commentaries on the sutras and treatises, there were homages made in accordance with the subject matter of the texts, therefore it was decreed that the translators' homages should also be done in the same way. When translating the Vinaya, homage is paid to the All-Knowing One. When translating the Sutras of the Lesser Vehicle, homage is paid to the Three Jewels. When translating the Sutras or Treatises of the Great Vehicle, homage is paid to all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. When translating the Sutras or Treatises that show the suffering and decline of samsara, homage is paid to Avalokiteshvara. When translating the Abhidharma, homage is paid to the Bhagavan Manjushri. When translating the Secret Mantras, homage is paid to the Lord of Secrets. Among these, the first is to understand that upholding the precepts of the Vinaya is solely within the realm of the All-Knowing One, and not within the realm of any other author of treatises, Shravakas, Bodhisattvas, etc. The second is because the basis is Dharma, spoken by the Buddha, and needed by the Sangha. The third is that it is spoken by the Buddha and needed by the Bodhisattvas. The fourth is that, in reality, all Buddhas have equal compassion, but relying on fame, he is known as the compassionate one, and to understand that the object of compassion is suffering. The fifth is that, in reality, all Buddhas have equal wisdom, but he is known as the wise one, and the Abhidharma is the nature of both wisdom with outflows and without outflows.

Sixth, the reason why mantra is called "secret" is not because there is any fault in the Dharma itself, but because for those with low wisdom and insufficient understanding, it is kept secret by means of great compassion. It is for the sake of understanding that one must learn as it is said. This very beginning and end is the oral instruction itself. If using a certain Vinaya will cause obstacles, and if guarding a certain Vinaya will surely lead to liberation, all the instructions on the key prohibitions, the order of transgressions, and the methods of restoring broken vows, are said to be the realm that only the all-knowing can know, and even Arhats cannot fully know, therefore, the noble Shariputra only followed along, and did not proclaim the precepts. Therefore, even the lord of the ten bhumis did not say to use them. Therefore, only the Buddha's words should be taken as the standard, and practice should be done as the scriptures say, without making one's own decisions, and there is no room for argument. Once, a Vinaya holder named "Nonda Bhujiba" drank alcohol like water, and ate food in the afternoon like in the morning, and died with a cracked back because he made his own decisions. Similarly, all laypeople, just because they said, "Don't waste the Guru's holy water," accepted it and did not easily give it up. The Buddha did not establish precepts because the Buddha had great power, but because the wisdom of the all-knowing knows the Dharma of liberation and obstacles, and how the greatness of dependent origination exists, and established the precepts out of compassion alone. The ultimate becoming an oral instruction is also because mantra must be kept secret in order to be accomplished. Geshe Tonpa said, "Even if two people enter the same mandala at the same time, even if the same tantra or sadhana is taught, it must be taught separately." It is said that once, Druku Lokjung set up many black and white tents in a place called Dronggang, lit lamps and gave public teachings, and when Geshe heard this, he said, "Guru Tonpa did a very careless thing." It is said that at that time, inauspicious things such as the tents breaking occurred. So, here, by prostrating to the noble Manjushri, isn't this text Abhidharma? Of course it is Abhidharma, because this is also a definitive treatise, so it is called "Abhisamaya," that is, the two paths of higher rebirth and definite goodness, the three vehicles of definite goodness, the Great Vehicle.

It is said that it is because both the Perfection of Wisdom and the methods of Secret Mantra have been definitively established. The necessity of prostration is as will be shown below. It is said that although those are the instructions of the translators, each and every one of them is very important.
