Please instruct us as you do other disciples. When you obtain the nectar, please share some with us. In response, he said, "If it were harmful to me, I would not be able to bear it. But this is beneficial to me and not harmful, so do not worry that I cannot bear it. Furthermore, know that I delight in it. You should avoid taking life as you would avoid poison. Abandon attachment to others' property and wives, and abandon lying and indulging in alcohol." Having said this, he bestowed the five lay precepts. Now, it is said that the one who bestows the vows must also be a monk. But here, a king, a householder, bestowed the vows. Previously, when Zhang Sengge Gyaltsen came to request a one-day vow, he said, "Bring the text of the ritual." The text said, "Please consider, monks." It did not say, "Please consider, laypeople." He said, "I don't think it will work." It is said. Laypeople and novices cannot bestow vows in a place where there are no monks; it is absolutely not allowed. Then, the venerable Asanga said that in order to ensure that even one rebirth is sufficient to attain the result, it should be recited three times. But here, it is said that the result is attained by reciting it once. It is said that even non-humans here have attained the Pratimoksha vows. Then, in response to the third request, he said, "Having bestowed such benefit at the time of the cause, how could it be forgotten at the time of the result? This nectar of the Dharma of liberation, I will share with you first." It is said that he promised. Then, it is said that at Vulture Peak Mountain and other places, the wheel of Dharma of the signless and the wheel of Dharma of definitive meaning were turned in sequence. It is said that according to the Mahayana view, even when he first resided in the womb of Maya, he also taught a vast and immeasurable collection of teachings to the leaders of the eight classes of gods and demons.
