Herein lies the "All-Encompassing Shade," a praise of signs for the Field-Protecting Cemetery Goddess. Herein lies the "All-Encompassing Shade," a praise of signs for the Field-Protecting Cemetery Goddess. Bhyoḥ! From the space of the Great Bliss All-Good Mother, from the nature of the Dharmadhatu, the compassionate wrathful mother arises. Ruling over all abodes and cemeteries, the one mother, the mistress of all three realms, is the Field-Protecting Cemetery Mother Nganne Ma. Yogis call upon you with intense longing. Please come from the eight great cemeteries and twenty-four sacred sites to this place of loving compassion. In this great palace of cemetery play, on the throne of stacked lotus, sun, moon, and corpses, may the one mother goddess with her retinue reside. To the glorious, blazing, powerful mother Nganne Ma, I prostrate with reverence in body, speech, and mind. A vast red offering, flowers of the five senses bloom. Thick grease burns, melted butter and bile rain down. Flesh and bones as food, the sound of leg bone flutes and skull drums. The enjoyment of the feast of medicine, alcohol, and torma, etc. I offer an infinite expanse filling the sky. Please accept the offering with delight. Field-Protecting Cemetery Mother, wandering in places, your majestic dark blue body color signifies that you have mastered the unchanging Dharmadhatu. Showing the form of a blazing wrathful one signifies that you are the death of the enemies of the ten directions. From your mouth, uttering the sounds of (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ,Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं,Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ,Literal Meaning: Hum) and (Tibetan: བྷྱོཿ,Sanskrit Devanagari: भ्योः,Sanskrit Romanization: bhyoḥ,Literal Meaning: Bhyoh) signifies that you drive away enemies who break vows. Shaking conch shell earrings in your ears signifies that you distinguish between good and bad. Your three angry eyes gazing in the ten directions signify that you always protect practitioners like a child. Your dark reddish-brown hair hanging down signifies that the five poisons are not abandoned, but are spontaneously accomplished from the beginning. Wearing a crown of five dry skulls signifies that the five Buddha families reside on your head. Wearing a garland of wet heads signifies that you completely cut off the suffering of samsara. Adorned with human skin and bone rosaries signifies that you are tireless in benefiting beings. Your right hand eating the warm heart of the enemy signifies that you destroy obstacles to practice into dust. Your left hand holding a clear mirror signifies that you clearly distinguish all dharmas. Wearing a pure white silk upper garment signifies the realm of the Dakinis.

It is a symbol of being the chief mother. Wearing a dancing garment with human skin as its foundation is a symbol of controlling the assembly of flesh-eating dakinis. Wearing a tiger skin skirt is a symbol of gathering the earth-dwelling assemblies. Having the two feet with the right extended and the left bent is a symbol of subduing the wrong views of cause and effect. Stacking deceased men and women as a seat is a symbol of the dharmadhatu being without elaboration. The appearance of the four retinue mothers in the four directions is a symbol of the four actions and activities being unimpeded. Furthermore, in the command circle of the Great Mother, There are inauspicious things such as jackals, foxes, wolves, and bears, There are assemblies of ugly, cruel, and violent retinues, Like the sun radiating light, There are retinues that are boundless and inconceivable. For us, the assemblies practicing enlightenment, All the obstructing enemies and obstacles, Like the fire of the final age burning roots and stems, May you accomplish the activity of destroying them without even a name remaining. In short, until the essence of enlightenment is attained, May Machig Lhamo, you, not be separated from me, Always protect the yogi like a child, And accomplish the wishes of all practitioners. This was written by Dzogchen Fifth Thubten Chokyi Dorje, based on the repeated urging of Geto Ru Yeshe and Jucha Sonam Wang, may this also become a cause for benefiting the teachings and beings. མདྒ་ལཾ། (Tibetan) དགེ་ལེགས་སུ་གྱུར་ཅིག (Tibetan) Mangalam, May it be auspicious! Here concludes the treatise called "The Praise of the Signs of the Field-Protecting Cemetery Goddess: The Shade of the Gathering."
