The Garland of Red Lotuses: A Praise of the Signs of the Great Lord Maheśvara The Garland of Red Lotuses: A Praise of the Signs of the Great Lord Maheśvara HRIH All dharmas are without focus and free from elaboration, yet in the midst of a vast and pure array, a measureless palace made of red lotus gems, its shape a crescent with a single jeweled door, rays of light shine in all directions, adorned with umbrellas, victory banners, and streamers, beautiful with various silk canopies, a net of wish-fulfilling jewels and half-nets, beautifully arranged in all directions, in the center of a jeweled throne with lotus pistils, from the unchanging light of great bliss, like the playful dance of the moon in the water of wisdom, the father of the world, lord of all three realms, the great lord Śrī with matted hair, his body red and blazing with glory, is a sign of compassion for all beings. His terrifying form is equal to Mount Meru, a sign of subduing all that appears and exists. His three eyes clearly see in all directions, a sign of taming all the guardian demons. His hair is bound in a topknot of matted locks, a sign of subduing all the great gods. Adorned with a crescent moon at his temples, a sign of always protecting the sacred teachings. The five vidyādhara consorts adorn his head, a sign of bestowing the empowerment of the five buddha families. His right hand raises an iron hook in the sky, a sign of threatening the lives of the wicked and oath-breakers. His left hand holds a noose of wind, a sign of subduing the three realms. Dressed in various silk garments, a sign of unobstructed and vast activity. Wearing a garland of red utpala flowers, a sign of always striving for the benefit of beings. Naked, with his lingam erect, a sign of bestowing the accomplishments of the four joys. Seated in the posture of throwing, with his right leg bent and his left leg extended, a sign of driving away harmful demons.
