Instructions Called 'Precious Moon' Instructions Called 'Precious Moon' Namo Guruye! With reverence, I prostrate to the sublime Guru. If you truly need profound instructions, Listen without distraction and focus your mind, And practice with unwavering determination. Until samsara and nirvana dawn as equal, How can you escape from the terrifying existence? Until cause and effect become unborn, Practice abandoning evil and adopting virtue properly. Until you reach the realm of great bliss, Repeatedly send forth the urging of impermanence. While practicing the Dharma of lasting happiness, Do not be overly attached to the desire for temporary pleasure. Meditate on the food of contemplation and samadhi, Which is the excellent enjoyment that sustains both temporary and ultimate well-being. Be content and satisfied with whatever arises, Do not be overly attached to craving for food and clothing. All things are impermanent and like illusions, Enemies and friends are uncertain and changeable, Praise and blame, happiness and suffering are like dreams, Renounce the actions of attachment and aversion and strive diligently. Do not exchange barley flour for Ganges water, Do not waste your life on meaningless pursuits, Do not cling to fabricated Dharma as liberation, Practice the ultimate truth with thoroughness. Alas! You who are alive and intelligent, Listen! Samsara and nirvana are equal, the mind of enlightenment, The pure awareness is the primordially complete expanse, This is the self-born, original nature itself. The alaya and ignorance are completely purified, The imprints and the root of delusion are completely severed, Afflictions and karmic appearances are devoid of inherent nature, This is the primordially pure awareness itself. This is the unborn awareness itself. In the unborn, what is there to abide or cease? The mind of the deluded is primordially empty, So-called liberation is devoid of particles, The original purity of mind itself is here. The unfabricated nature of Dharma is the mind of enlightenment, The grasping and conceptualization of the eight consciousnesses dissolve into the Dharmadhatu, The distinctions of appearance and mind scatter like rain, The co-emergent luminosity is here. The imputations of good and bad are like lines in the sky, Realization and non-realization are free from high and low, View and meditation are all in the primordially complete great bliss, The unborn self-mind is here. This view is the great Madhyamaka, free from extremes, The luminosity of union is the great Mahamudra, The primordially liberated, primordially pure great perfection, The natural state of non-attachment, relax freely. In the primordially empty, there is no need to create an emptiness clinging, In the luminosity, there is no need to further illuminate, In non-thought, there is no need to disturb

It should be so! In the true nature, without distraction, let it rest naturally! So-called meditation is to relax and liberate the mind; so-called non-meditation is to be liberated from distraction and delusion. Let the mind and consciousness be freed from bondage, and let the awareness of Dharmata be nakedly revealed. In the meditation of realizing the truth as it is, there is no letting go, abiding, coming and going, or transformation. For the subsidence and flourishing of the skandhas and conditions, take a non-attached, moderately tight and loose approach. For sentient beings who have not realized, generate compassion, and all actions should be carried out in practice. If not mixed, then in the effortless Samadhi, in the conduct, mindfulness is a good way to take the path. The nature of Bodhicitta is the Dharmadhatu, in the wheel of primordial meditation of luminosity, although it is not decorated with conceptual thoughts, it is excellent to practice in a state of non-distraction. In the naturally clear, further expand the clarity, all appearances and existence are the Dharmadhatu of great bliss, appearances and sounds are the playful adornments of the three bodies, and the realm of Samantabhadra's mind is revealed. Emaho! This is the adornment of observers and wise men, isn't it the secret meaning of the sutras and tantras? Those who are integrated with practice and have realization, aren't they the Dharmata of reality? Those who practice properly and great practitioners, aren't they the treasury of realization? If seen by speculators and fools, wouldn't they be confused and hold on to contradictions? This instruction was written by the venerable Gyetsang, and also at the request of a yogi named Padma in Tsari Mountain. May this virtue enable all beings as vast as space to attain unsurpassed Bodhi! The treatise called "Precious Moon of Oral Instructions" is complete.
