From this life and from beginningless and endless lives in all places of samsara, I have committed sinful deeds, or caused others to commit them, or rejoiced in their commission; or stolen the property of stupas, or the property of the sangha, or the property of the sangha of the ten directions, or caused others to steal it, or rejoiced in their theft; or committed the five inexpiable sins, or caused others to commit them, or rejoiced in their commission; or entered and truly taken the path of the ten non-virtuous actions, or caused others to enter, or rejoiced in their entry; or whatever karmic obscurations have obscured me, so that I and other sentient beings will go to hell, or go to the animal realm, or go to the realm of the pretas, or be born in a borderland, or be born as barbarians, or be born among the long-lived gods, or become deficient in faculties, or become holders of wrong views, or will not be pleased with the appearance of the Buddhas, all those karmic obscurations, before the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, who have become wisdom, who have become eyes, who have become witnesses, who have become प्रमाण (pramāṇa, प्रमाण, प्रमाण, 量), who see with knowledge, I confess them all, I repent them all, I do not conceal them, I do not hide them, and in the future I will cut them off and vow to protect myself. May all those Buddhas, the Bhagavat, be mindful of me. From this life and from beginningless and endless lives in other places of samsara, whatever root of virtue there is from giving, even giving a mouthful of food to a being born in the animal realm, and whatever root of virtue there is from my keeping vows, and whatever root of virtue there is from my abiding in celibacy, and whatever root of virtue there is from my fully ripening all sentient beings, and whatever root of virtue there is from my generating the mind of supreme enlightenment, and whatever root of virtue there is from my unsurpassed wisdom, all those I gather together, merge, and combine, and with the unsurpassed, the unsurpassed above, the supreme above the supreme, the unsurpassed above the unsurpassed, I completely dedicate to unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment. All sins are individually confessed. All merits are rejoiced in. All Buddhas are urged and entreated. May I attain the supreme and excellent wisdom. The supreme among men, the victorious ones, those who are now abiding, those who have passed away, and those who have not yet come. To all those whose qualities are praised immeasurably like the ocean, I join my palms and draw near to refuge. Bodhisattvas who possess the power of compassion, who benefit and act for the benefit of all pitiable beings. Please protect me, a helpless sinner, from all of them. I also take refuge in those Bodhisattvas. The actions of the body are of three kinds, and the forms of speech are of four kinds, and whatever the three forms of mind. I confess each of the ten non-virtues. From beginningless time until now, the ten non-virtues and the five heinous crimes, the mind is controlled by afflictions, all sins are confessed. Due to the control of desire, hatred, and ignorance, whatever sins I have committed with body, speech, and mind, I confess them all individually. The sins of the five heinous crimes, which were committed out of ignorance, by uttering this confession, may they all be completely purified. Prostration, offering, and confession, rejoicing, urging, and praying, whatever small amount of merit I have accumulated, I dedicate it all for the sake of enlightenment.
