To encourage the lazy to engage in Dharma, In the pure land of the root supreme city, Having passed away, manifesting a body like an immortal vajra, I prostrate to the one who demonstrates passing into sorrowless state. Because it is truly indestructible, And for the sake of future beings gaining merit, In that very place, multiplying many relics, I prostrate to the one who divided the body into eight parts. When you, the chief of bipeds, were born, Upon this great earth, you took seven steps, Saying, "I am supreme in this world." At that time, I prostrate to you, the wise one. First, you came from the land of the Tushita gods, In Rajagriha, you resided in your mother's womb, In the Lumbini garden, the Sage was born, I prostrate to the Bhagavan, the god of gods. In the celestial palace, you were worshipped by eight goddesses, In the city of the Shakyas, as a youth, you enjoyed games, In Kapilavastu, you took a wife with wealth, I prostrate to the body unparalleled in the three realms. At the four city gates, you showed the aspect of renunciation, At six pure stupas, you cut off your hair, On the banks of the Nairanjana River, you practiced austerities, I prostrate to the one who is free from the faults of the two obscurations. In Rajagriha, you tamed the mad elephant, In Vaishali, the monkey offered honey, In Magadha, the Sage manifestly attained enlightenment, I prostrate to the one whose wisdom blazes. In Varanasi, you turned the wheel of Dharma, In Jeta Grove, you displayed great miracles, In the root supreme city, you demonstrated passing into nirvana, I prostrate to the one whose mind is like the sky.
