That which does not change into something else while remaining, is called the unconditioned. Because there is no permanence and no destruction in it, the unconditioned is empty of the unconditioned. What is called the emptiness of beginninglessness and endlessness? That in which no beginning and no end are perceived, and in which there is no middle. Why is that? Because its nature is such, this is called the emptiness of beginninglessness and endlessness. What is called the emptiness of non-abandonment? There is no abandonment in any dharma; abandonment means abandoning, forsaking, and relinquishing. Because there is no permanence and no destruction in it, the non-abandonment is empty of the non-abandonment. Why is that? Because its nature is such, this is called the emptiness of non-abandonment. What is called the emptiness of self-nature? Whether conditioned or unconditioned, whatever is the self-nature of all dharmas is not made by the Hearers, not made by the Solitary Buddhas, and not made by the Tathagatas, the Arhats, the Perfectly Awakened Ones. Because there is no permanence and no destruction in it, self-nature is empty of self-nature. Why is that? Because its nature is such, this is called the emptiness of self-nature. What is called the emptiness of all dharmas? All dharmas are form, feeling, perception, formations, consciousness, eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind.
