Explanation of the Obstacles to Conjunction. Explanation of the Obstacles to Conjunction. Regarding the narration of its obstacles, therefore, faults are included in four sets. It must be determined as six types. It is said, the total is forty-six. Among these, what is obtained with great effort is the cause for perfecting the pāramitā, which is great effort, and joy arises after a long time. It is said. Joy increases very quickly, because previously, when practicing the pāramitā, joy arose too quickly, so it is said to be an obstacle. It is said. The three manifestations of the body's bad state are yawning, agitation, and pushing and questioning each other, which are said to be obstacles to the body's transformation. Pushing means that oneself or others related to the body tease the other's body. The bad states of mind are three: the mind is distracted, and having mutually discriminating wisdom, questioning and listening to each other, and thinking, "I have not tasted the flavor of this," and then getting up and leaving, which is said to be an obstacle to the mind. Having mutually discriminating wisdom means discriminating objects that cause joy by relying on each other. Performing recitations and other actions generated by irrational attention is also explained by the transformations of the body, and holding on to them by the transformations of the mind, etc., which is said to be creating obstacles. Holding on to external reasons is because one has not truly entered, so it is reasonable not to give a prophecy. "I have not received a prophecy here." It is said, and because of the non-prophecy of not prophesying, etc., without a reason for certainty, not fully stating one's name, not obtaining joy. The cause is diminished, like abandoning the root and holding on to the leaves and branches, which means the cause is completely diminished. Why is that? Realizing worldly and transworldly dharmas necessarily arises from the Prajñāpāramitā. It is said. Declining from tasting abundant flavors, like a dog, declining from tasting abundant flavors.

These are what is said in terms of meaning. Falling away from the supreme vehicle is like seeking an elephant and, while finding it, chasing after its footprints. This example illustrates the meaning of completely falling away from the Great Vehicle. Falling away from what should be done specifically is like equating the great ocean with the footprints of a cow, illustrating the meaning of completely falling away from what should be done specifically. The connection between cause and effect being lost is like a craftsman wanting to build a magnificent mansion using the dimensions of the sun's immeasurable palace, illustrating the meaning of inverting the conformity of cause and effect, thus losing its order. Falling away from the unsurpassed state is like equating the territory of a universal monarch, illustrating the meaning of completely falling away from the state of the Dharmakaya, which is the work of obstructing demons. The arising of courage to discriminate objects means that those dharmas do not exist and are not seen in the Prajnaparamita, and that much courage arises towards the objects of those dharmas. Being attached to writing letters, being attached to non-things, being attached to the Prajnaparamita in written letters, being attached to the absence of letters here, attending to objects and so on, seeking gain, respect, tasting the flavor of verses, and seeking skillful means by the wrong path, these seven hindrances are because the nature of all dharmas does not exist, and because there are no things, it is impossible to write about non-things, being attached to non-things, being attached to the written letters as being that, being attached to the absence of letters there, attending to objects and so on, seeking gain, respect, tasting the flavor of verses, abandoning the Prajnaparamita, and seeking skillful means in the sutras entrusted by the demons, all this is said to be the work of demons. Being without aspiration and diligence means that the listener and the speaker, and those who are manifestly connected, are mutually intent and diligent.
