Chapter Nine: The Chapter on Purification Chapter Nine: The Chapter on Purification "Then" refers to following the explanation of the meaning of the two stages. There are two kinds of purification: intrinsic purification and illusory complete purification. Intrinsic purification is divided into purification and supreme purification. Purification refers to all dharmas being unborn and free from elaboration. Supreme purification refers to the unique purification of great bliss. Illusory complete purification refers to all dharmas being like dreams or illusions. Illusory supreme complete purification refers to understanding divine yoga as illusion, dream, and so on. As it is said, "If one knows the suchness of form, one will know the sutra and expanse of all dharmas." And like, "The realm of form is called emptiness," and so on, is the same as previously stated. Again, form is like a dream, like an illusion. Nirvana is also like a dream, like an illusion. If there is a dharma that is even greater than nirvana, it is also like a dream, like an illusion. Furthermore, like, "Like the city of the lion moon," and so on, is extensively explained. The explanation of the chapter is to make a commitment by summarizing. All things are the collection of the stable and the moving. Purification is being free from the nature of the ordinary. Suchness is the unconditioned, shown by intrinsic purification. The term "after" means that in the eighth chapter, it was shown before generation, but here it shows the opposite. Why is that? Because there it was in terms of the support and the supported, because the support goes first. Here it is in terms of suchness itself, because it is pervaded by intrinsic purification. The individual distinctions are the deities that exist for each dharma. The expression of the deities is that the support is like a city of gandharvas, the supported is like a dream, and the enjoyment is like an illusion, showing illusory purification. Showing these together is for the necessity of the easy tantra, and to show the meaning that there is no difference between selflessness and Heruka. Now explaining intrinsic purification. It is shown by the two verses "In what is pure," which is easy to understand. How it is pure is shown by the verses on form, and so on.
