Homage to the Lamas, those of the Buddha lineage! The Sugata-garbha (Tathāgatagarbha, 如来藏, tathāgatagarbha, the womb of the thus-gone), like a wish-fulfilling jewel, That the clever ones cannot understand. Through whose kindness I come to know through skillful means, Homage to the Lamas, those of the Buddha lineage! The naturally luminous essence, like a reflection in the eight-fold water, That those with a thousand eyes cannot see. Through whose kindness I come to see with my own eyes, Homage to the Lamas, those of the Buddha lineage! The endless billions of conceptual proliferations, That the sharpest surgical needle cannot remove. Through whose kindness I come to remove them like a surgical procedure, Homage to the Lamas, those of the Buddha lineage! Those tormented by unbearable afflictive emotions, That the best medicine and skilled doctors cannot cure. Through whose kindness I come to heal them like medicine, Homage to the Lamas, those of the Buddha lineage! The army of temporary four habitual tendencies and demons, That an army with four divisions cannot overcome. Through whose kindness I come to destroy them with an army, Homage to the Lamas, those of the Buddha lineage! The fortress of suffering in samsara (saṃsāra, 轮回, saṃsāra, cycle of existence) of birth, aging, sickness, and death, That countless unbearable wheels cannot destroy. Through whose kindness I come to demolish it through skillful means, Homage to the Lamas, those of the Buddha lineage! The poor sentient beings impoverished by Dharma, That the wealth of the three realms cannot satisfy. Through whose kindness I come to satisfy them with Dharma, Homage to the Lamas, those of the Buddha lineage! I prostrate, make offerings, and confess all misdeeds, Rejoice in virtue, and urge the turning of the wheel of Dharma. I beseech you not to pass into nirvana (nirvāṇa, 涅槃, nirvāṇa, cessation), to remain, and dedicate all virtue, For the sake of enlightenment, may my aspirations be fulfilled! The servant of the Lamas, those of the Buddha lineage, The fool named Wisdom speaks thus: Like one swept away by a flood longing for dry land, I cry out in a feeble voice. May you, with immaculate wisdom, compassion, power, and activity, And all-pervading, spontaneously accomplished, unfailing blessings, Rescue me from the great river of suffering, And grant me the supreme state of unchanging great bliss!
