The Condensed Essence of the Key Instructions on Kadak Trekchö. The Condensed Essence of the Key Instructions on Kadak Trekchö. The Condensed Essence of the Key Instructions on Kadak Trekchö. Herein. The wisdom of self-arisen awareness, Is Samantabhadra, the ground of reality, free from elaboration. To that, I pay homage with reverence, And now I will explain this condensed essence. Having said this, now, to differentiate between mind and awareness: In general, when one leaves one's own mind uncorrected, That very nature of reality, naturally clear and self-illuminating, Is awareness, the great dharmata, free from elaboration, all-pervasive and vast. Mind has grasping and being grasped. Awareness has no grasping and being grasped. Mind thinks about objects. Awareness does not think about objects. Mind has arising and ceasing. Awareness does not. Mind has limitations and partiality. Awareness does not. Mind has sinking, excitement, and dullness. Awareness does not. Mind has ignorance as its root. Awareness has wisdom, the dharmakaya, the root of freedom from elaboration. Mind looks outward. Awareness is great inner clarity. Mind is temporary consciousness. Awareness has the distinction of being self-illuminating great wisdom. Well then, what is the difference between the alaya and the dharmakaya? The dharmakaya is empty and clear, something that is free from all elaboration. The alaya is the root of mind, something that is defiled by ignorance. Moreover, it is the unindicated, the imprints in the three aspects of place, meaning, and body. It focuses on the vast container and contents. It is something that looks outward. It is something that is obscured by delusion. Although it is said to be without grasping, if one traces its object to the end, it does not go beyond grasping. The dharmakaya is unobstructed and free from obscurations, Something in which the self-display of wisdom is uninterrupted. It is the play of prajna, like a fire that burns away imprints, It abides in a state of being awake and naked. Also, when one is in an ordinary state, there is something in the mind that is clear and lucid, Something that does not change thoughts, that is called the alaya-vijnana. That is what the tirthikas call the self, the person of awareness and knowledge. Therefore, the one who says, "I know," when the mind is clear and without thought, is similar to that. Furthermore, in any case, if one does not recognize the nature of awareness, it is not meditation. By bringing out the clarity of awareness, and driving in the stake of grasping and being grasped, one will not understand the subtle movements. Also, even if one says that awareness is emptiness, free from elaboration, If one experiences it with the mind, it is not free from elaboration. If one does not experience it, then one does not know anything, and therefore one wanders in the unindicated. Therefore, the primordial expanse

It is inseparable from the essence of awareness, yet yoga cannot be directly realized if it is bound by conceptual speculation. To abide in a state beyond the mind's thoughts and expressions is similar to the experience of pleasure and sensation possessed by beings in the lower realms of the form realm, and is not the characteristic of great meditators of today. The essence of awareness, emptiness, is the Dharmakaya; its self-nature, clarity, is the Sambhogakaya; and its compassion, naked and aware, is the Nirmanakaya, which is the view free from partiality. To look at it without distraction is the view; to meditate without being tainted by the effort of the mind of meditation is meditation; to remain without being moved by conceptual thoughts severs the connection of the mind in the three times. By striking at that, and remaining without straying from it, the view of effortless self-liberation will be manifested. Therefore, what is now called "knowing," and what is called "manifest clarity," how could all of that be the meaning of the true reality? If you cultivate luminosity without day or night and do not attain Buddhahood, then Vajradhara will not deceive you; this is a definitive reason. Furthermore, if you fall into distraction, forgetfulness, confusion, and laxity, there will be conceptual confusion and laxity. There is nothing in the place of laxity. Because there is nothing that is not liberated into the nature of reality. Practice in this way, and there is nothing deeper than this. When conceptual thoughts arise, do not look at their face, do not meditate on their nature, do not do anything like welcoming or following up, but remain in the state of the previous awareness. Then all conditioned appearances and conceptual thoughts will naturally dissolve and be purified without remainder. This is the view of self-liberation, great equality, so do not engage in affirmation or negation there. Although the nature of conceptual thoughts, from the way they appear outwardly, seems to be a fault, in reality, there is nothing but awareness, so there is no need to regard it as a fault, because its essence is originally liberated. Thus, Gaga spoke at the urging of Dharma Friend. The condensed meaning of the essential nail verses of Kadag Trekchö.
