Namo Guru Padmakaraye. Symbolic word: Hūṃ. Instantly, I am perfectly mindful. In the center of the terrifying charnel ground of the outer world, in a palace of five-fold stacked skulls, above the intertwined proud males and females, is the venerable Guru Drakpo, red-black, with one face and two arms. His right hand holds aloft a five-pointed vajra, and his left holds a black iron scorpion. He extends jeweled vajra wings, adorned with the terrifying ornaments of the charnel ground. The mother of the indivisible emptiness of appearance embraces the father with a curved knife and skull cup of blood. He wears six bone ornaments on his body, and his dark, oiled hair is beautifully braided. He dances in a red, playful manner. In the three places of the crown, throat, and heart, are clear the deities of Manjushri's body, Padma's speech, and Yangdak's mind. In the skull cup on the crown of his head reside the Buddhas of the five families. In the center of his heart is the wisdom being, Guru Padmasambhava, clear. From the essence of the vajra in the three places, light radiates, the light of space and the light of the lotus. From the land of the Rakshasas, Linga Puri (Lanka City), the wisdom deities are invoked. Indivisibly, in one taste, they remain steadfast. I prostrate with reverence through the three doors. I offer the supreme feast of union and liberation. I display the attitude of the nine dances and the manner of fierceness. I praise by remembering the great qualities. In the heart of the wisdom being is the syllable Hūṃ, red-black and blazing with fire, surrounded by a garland of mantras. Rays of light intensely radiate, tormenting and subjugating the hosts of obstructing demons and evil spirits, enslaving them.
