Homage to Vajrapani! Homage to the Great Glorious Goddess! Thus have I heard at one time. The Bhagavan was dwelling in the world of Sukhāvatī. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Avalokiteśvara went to where the Bhagavan was, and having arrived, bowed to the two feet of the Bhagavan with his head and sat down on one side. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, the Great Glorious Goddess, also went to where the Bhagavan was, and having arrived, bowed to the two feet of the Bhagavan with her head and sat down on one side. Then, the Bhagavan looked at the Great Glorious One and spoke thus to Avalokiteśvara: Avalokiteśvara, whether it be a monk, or a nun, or a male lay practitioner, or a female lay practitioner, whichever sentient being knows these twelve names of the Great Glorious One, and holds them, recites them, practices them, and also speaks them, then he will abandon poverty and become a great wealthy person. Then, all the assemblies of bhutas said: May it be so! The twelve names of the Great Glorious Goddess are as follows: Auspicious Woman, Glorious Woman, Lotus Garland Holder, Owner of Wealth, White-Clothed Woman, Greatly Renowned Woman, Possessing Lotus Eyes, Renowned Woman, Great Light Woman, Food-Giving Woman, Possessing Jewel Light, Great Glorious Goddess. Homage to all the Buddhas! Homage to Avalokiteśvara! Homage to the Great Glorious Goddess!
