The Dharani Called "Essence of the Blessed One" The Dharani Called "Essence of the Blessed One" In Sanskrit: Arya Buddha Hrdayam Nama Dharani. In Tibetan: The Dharani Called "Essence of the Blessed One." Homage to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas! Thus I have heard, at one time, the Blessed One was in a garden by the sea, seated on a lion throne in a grove of trees in the realm of the Buddha's activity, surrounded by a retinue of gods, facing them and teaching the Dharma. Then, the Blessed One spoke to the sons of the gods of the Pure Abodes, such as Great Powerful One, Good Asceticism, and others, saying: "Sons of the gods, therefore, listen well and keep it in mind, and I will speak." "In the future, the Tathagata will gather the four assemblies, follow, universally follow, make them special, accomplish all meanings and all dharmas, and in order to make those who have truly entered the Great Vehicle attain distinction in all aspects, I will teach the Dharma category of the dharani called 'Essence of the Buddha.'" "I will explain. You should memorize it, and now and after I have completely passed into Nirvana, in the future, teach and tell it to the four assemblies who have truly entered the Great Vehicle. Do not forget, you must definitely show and proclaim it. To those who are impoverished and have obstacles, protect the words of the Tathagata, and you must definitely show and proclaim it." Aparanta. Madhya trya dha samanta anu prapte. Anapa shesha. Pari jna prahana. Bhavana. Sakshad kriya parama varadgate. Yatha vadita tatha kari. Sarva akara sampanne. Sarva akara maha maitri. Maha karuna. Sarva akara sama sa graha anu prapte. Sons of gods, this is the category of Dharma called the Dharani of the Essence of the Buddha. From the fourfold assembly who have truly entered the Great Vehicle, whichever son or daughter of good family touches the body, or recites and holds it well, should not have a lowly mind. Just as the Tathagata is, so too will they be, constantly abiding on the crown of their heads. Some will surely see the Buddha. Some will hear. Some will teach the Dharma. Some will not forget the Dharani. Those who study on the path will not interrupt the lineage of the path, and those who teach the Dharma will not interrupt the lineage. They will also not forget to hold everything. In one lifetime, what is sought will be accomplished. If they possess these qualities, they will obtain the dharani of all the oceans of learning. From obtaining tolerance of the unborn Dharma, up to obtaining the unimpeded liberation and complete accomplishment of the Buddha. You should understand the meaning of my teachings in this life. You should also teach and proclaim this Dharma to those sons or daughters of good family. Do not abandon it. Do not delay. Do not forget it. Petition! Blessed One, I will accomplish it in that way. Blessed One, this category of Dharma of the Dharani called "Essence of the Buddha" should be taught and explained to the fourfold assembly in the future without delay and without abandoning it.
