The Aspiration from the Great Subduer The Aspiration from the Great Subduer Homage to the Three Jewels! Whether in this world or those that have passed, In the high heavens, there are supreme jewels. The Thus-Gone One has become the god of gods, There is no equal to the best of humans here. Therefore, this is said to be the supreme jewel. May this truth bring auspiciousness here! Cessation, freedom from attachment, nectar, uncompounded, Wisely, Shakyamuni has well explained. The nectar of peace, the uncompounded, There is nothing equal to that Dharma. Therefore, this is said to be the supreme jewel. May this truth bring auspiciousness here! Supremely, whatever is desired is well shown according to the way, The yoga of the teacher, the unsurpassed, is constantly practiced. The two eyes like vajra see the path, There is no samadhi equal to that. Therefore, this is said to be the supreme jewel. May this truth bring auspiciousness here! The eight great persons are greatly praised, Those who are spoken of as four pairs of persons, Upright, great, incomparable persons, The Sugata said that they are the field of giving. If one gives to them, the fruit greatly increases, Like sowing seeds in a fertile field. This is said to be the supreme jewel of the Sangha. May this truth bring auspiciousness here! Those who strive diligently with steadfast minds, And enter into the teachings of Gautama, Having attained that, they attain the entrance to nectar, Having dispelled darkness, they attain the cessation of sorrow. Therefore, the Sangha is said to be the supreme jewel. May this truth bring auspiciousness here! As soon as one is joined to this view, The view of the aggregates, and the adherence to vows and rituals, And doubt, and the three defilements, Are abandoned all at once, and the noble truth is seen. Therefore, the Sangha is said to be the supreme jewel. May this truth bring auspiciousness here! Whether by body, speech, or even mind, Never committing any of the three sins, And even if done suddenly, not concealing it, Thus, not clinging to them with views. Therefore, the Sangha is said to be the supreme jewel. May this truth bring auspiciousness here! Just as a pillar is planted in the ground, And is not shaken by the winds of the four directions, So is the noble path seen by the noble ones.

Wow! The Sangha of noble individuals is also like that. Therefore, it is said that the Sangha is the supreme jewel. By this truth, may there be auspiciousness here! Those who contemplate the noble truths, Which are profoundly taught with deep wisdom, And who have the thought of giving away even their body, They will not encounter the eight fears. Therefore, it is said that the Sangha is the supreme jewel. By this truth, may there be auspiciousness here! Just as fire destroys a fence with the wind, It cannot be counted even when held in hand. Likewise, letting go of attachment to all combinations, The sons of the Buddha go unseen. Therefore, it is said that the Sangha is the supreme jewel. By this truth, may there be auspiciousness here! May all sentient beings, whether moving or not moving, May they all be happy here! The supreme teacher, worthy of worship by gods and humans, I prostrate to the Buddha, may there be auspiciousness here today! May all sentient beings, whether moving or not moving, May they all be happy here! The peaceful, free from attachment, worthy of worship by gods and humans, I prostrate to the Dharma, may there be auspiciousness here today! All sentient beings, whether moving or not moving, May they all be happy here! The supreme assembly, worthy of worship by gods and humans, I prostrate to the Sangha, may there be auspiciousness here today! May they all be liberated from great fears! The splendor of all the Buddhas, And the splendor of the Pratyekabuddhas, And the power of the Arhats, And all the Vidyadharas (holders of secret mantras), The wisdom of Shariputra, The miraculous powers of Maudgalyayana, The unobstructed eye, And the qualities of Kashyapa's training, The first attainment of Kaundinya, The hearing of Ananda, The loving-kindness of Brahma, The powers of Indra, And the realms of the world protectors, And the power of the Great Ishvara, And the power of the Senapatis (सेनापति, Sena-pati, army commanders), And the splendor and miraculous power of Hrīḥ (ह्रीः)
