Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Avalokiteśvara went to where the Blessed One was, and having arrived, bowed his head at the two feet of the Blessed One, and sat down on one side. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Glorious Great Goddess also went to where the Blessed One was, and having arrived near, bowed her head at the two feet of the Blessed One, and sat down on one side. Then, the Blessed One looked at the Glorious Great Goddess, and spoke thus to Avalokiteśvara: Avalokiteśvara, whether it be a monk, or a nun, or a layman, or a laywoman, any sentient being whatsoever, if they know these twelve names of the Glorious Goddess, and hold them, read them, practice them, and recite them, then they will abandon poverty and become greatly wealthy.
