The Noble One Hundred and Eight Names of Avalokiteshvara. The Noble One Hundred and Eight Names of Avalokiteshvara. In Sanskrit: Ārya Avalokiteśvarasya Nāma Aṣṭaśataka. In Tibetan: The Noble One Hundred and Eight Names of Avalokiteshvara. Homage to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Thus have I heard: At one time, the Bhagavan, the Noble Avalokiteshvara, was dwelling in a place adorned with various fragrant flowers, appearing like the beautiful color of Jambu River gold, in a place where various jewels shone. Gods, nagas, yakshas, gandharvas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, mahoragas, humans, and non-humans, countless billions of trillions, served the Bhagavan, regarded him as their teacher, regarded him as their ritual, offered and remembered him, circumambulated him respectfully, gazed upon him in front, and taught the Dharma: conduct, initially virtuous, intermediately virtuous, ultimately virtuous, with good meaning, good words, unmixed, completely perfect, completely pure, truly and thoroughly revealed. Then Brahma and others praised the Noble Avalokiteshvara: O Bhagavan! Considerate, having done what needs to be done, having cast off the burden, having attained my benefit, having completely eliminated all attachments to existence, with true wisdom, the mind is completely liberated, all-knowing, like a great elephant king, having gone beyond the supreme power of all beings, having perfected the accumulation of wisdom, having transcended the solitude of existence, benefiting others, possessing a mind connected with compassion, supremely gentle to beings, making the bestowal of great happiness, acting with love, skilled in liberating infinite beings, son of the Sugata, the sole root of the three existences, without desire, without hatred, without delusion, having abandoned the three stains, having gone to the other shore of the three knowledges, having attained the six superknowledges, covering the water like a nyagrodha tree, possessing the thirty-two major marks of a great being, the eighty minor marks.

Declining, cutting off doubts, proclaiming the Dharma, the teacher of the worlds, the face wheel fully expanded, the body and waist adorned with all kinds of precious jewels, like a golden offering tree, the body more beautiful than a thousand suns, Brahma and others also prostrate. Whosoever praises and practices with the one hundred and eight names of the Holy Avalokiteśvara, the karmic obscurations of the five heinous crimes will be purified. One will enter all mandalas. All secret mantras will be accomplished for him. For hundreds of millions of kalpas, one will not fall into the lower realms. One will not fall into the Avici hell. Whoever gets up in the morning and recites, reads, or chants, leprosy, athlete's foot, phlegm, and discomfort will not occur in his body, and he will be liberated from all diseases. In all lifetimes, one will remember past lives. One will become like a son of the gods. At the time of death, one will be born in the Sukhavati realm. In all lifetimes, one will not be separated from the Holy Avalokiteśvara. If one constantly recites, the mind will become gentle, one will become brave, the voice will become melodious, and one will become fortunate. One will be fearless in all treatises, and the words will be dignified. If one praises with this praise and practice, it will be like making offerings to as many Buddhas, Bhagavat, as the sands of sixty-two Ganges Rivers, the fruition will be the same and without difference. The one hundred and eight names of the Holy Avalokiteśvara, called the Relic Treasure Casket of all Victors, is completed. The one hundred and eight names of the Holy Avalokiteśvara.
