The Noble Sandalwood Branch Dhāraṇī The Noble Sandalwood Branch Dhāraṇī In Sanskrit: Ārya Candana Aṅga Nāma Dhāraṇī. In Tibetan: The Noble Sandalwood Branch Dhāraṇī. Homage to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas! Thus I have heard. Once, the Blessed One was dwelling in Rājagṛha, together with a great Saṅgha of monks, a great Saṅgha of monks of twelve thousand five hundred monks, and many Bodhisattva-Mahāsattvas, and also many extraordinary gods. Then, the Blessed One, on a prepared seat, sat brilliantly, vividly, and radiantly by the miraculous power of the Tathāgata. Then, the Blessed One spoke to the Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva Avalokiteśvara and the youth Candraprabha in that assembly: "Son of good family, beyond this world, far beyond, there is a world called Sandalwood Glory, past as many hundreds of thousands of koṭis of universes as there are sands in the Gaṅgā River. There, the Tathāgata, Arhat, Samyaksaṃbuddha Sandalwood Branch is still living, dwelling, and teaching the Dharma. All the beings in that world are non-returning. The Blessed One, the Tathāgata, Arhat, Samyaksaṃbuddha Sandalwood Branch, for the benefit of all beings, has spoken the root of the vidyā mantra of the Dhāraṇī called Sandalwood Branch. Having heard this, those who are non-returning will be free from sin and will not be separated from the mind of enlightenment. The Blessed One, the Tathāgata Amitāyus, the Tathāgata Dīpaṃkara, the Tathāgata Vairocana, and other past Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, have also spoken it before. I will also tell you. In order to take care of all sentient beings, listen well and keep it in mind. In the future time, in the last five hundred years of the future age, when the sacred Dharma is decaying, everything is not in accordance with the Dharma, and they commit the five heinous crimes, etc."

Defaming the Dharma of mothers, demolishing stupas, stealing the property of the Sangha, falsely claiming to be a renunciate when not one, abandoning teachers and abbots will occur. In order to embrace them, I will now explain the root mantra of the sandalwood branch dharani, blessed by all the Buddhas. Bodhisattvas, listen to me. Then, the Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara and the youth Candraprabha bowed their heads to the feet of the Bhagavan and requested: For the sake of compassion for the Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas and also for hundreds of thousands of billions of beings, and for the purification of sins, please, Bhagavan, explain, please Sugata, explain, please Tathagata, explain. We will also hold these root mantras of the dharani, and for the benefit of all beings, we will widely and accurately explain them. I prostrate to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Tadyatha. Cirate. 山王须弥亦有倾，烈风亦可绳索系，月亮太阳亦可坠落地，虚空亦可双手压，火焰亦可化为水，四大种亦可有他变，一切有情之心亦可一，如来所说及加持，绝无可能有他变，无人能够令其动，亦不能令其摇。于此恶魔不得便。尔后菩萨大菩萨观自在，向薄伽梵顶礼，如是禀白：薄伽梵，我亦当说此陀罗尼之仪轨。于法王之舍利宝塔前，或于佛像之前，作白檀香之坛城，散布零星之鲜花，燃点檀香之熏香，从初一至十五，三时沐浴，亦换三次衣服，献上焚烧之食物，具足斋戒，以平等心对待一切有情，于月圆之日禁食一日，于草垫之上，于铺设草垫之上而卧，一心一意念诵，以香花遍洒十万次，则将摇动。自身亦将得见薄伽梵如来无量光及观自在。才一听闻此大陀罗尼，即得所欲。亦能听闻忆持。一切业障亦得清净。薄伽梵如是宣说之后，彼等比丘众，及彼等菩萨众，及一切圆满之眷属众，天人，人，非天，乾闼婆等世间皆大欢喜，对薄伽梵所说深信赞叹。《圣旃檀枝陀罗尼》圆满。印度堪布吉那弥扎，达那希拉，校对之译师班智达耶谢德所译校，并以新语修订而定。

Even the king of mountains, Sumeru, may crumble; the wind may be bound with ropes; the moon and sun may fall to the earth; the sky may be pressed down with two hands; fire may turn into water; the four great elements may transform; the minds of all sentient beings may become one. But what the Tathagata has spoken and blessed cannot be changed. No one can move it or shake it. The evil demon will not find an opportunity in this. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Avalokiteshvara prostrated to the Bhagavan and said: "Bhagavan, I will also explain the ritual of this dharani. In front of the stupa containing the relics of the Dharma King, or in front of the Buddha's image, make a mandala of white sandalwood, scatter scattered flowers, and fumigate with sandalwood incense. From the first day of the month to the fifteenth, bathe three times a day and change clothes three times. Offer burnt food, observe the fast, and with an equal mind towards all sentient beings, fast for one day on the full moon day. Lie on a grass mat, and on the grass mat, recite with one-pointed mind, and scatter fragrant flowers a hundred thousand times, then it will move. One will also see the Bhagavan Tathagata Amitabha and Avalokiteshvara. As soon as one hears this great dharani, one will obtain what one desires. One will also be able to hear and remember it. All karmic obscurations will also be purified." After the Bhagavan spoke thus, those monks, those bodhisattvas, and all the complete retinue, the gods, humans, asuras, gandharvas, and the world rejoiced and praised the Bhagavan's words with faith.
