第四十三，婆罗门献补丁品。 第四十三，婆罗门献补丁品。 第十二卷。如是我闻。一时，薄伽梵在舍卫城，胜子园给孤独的祇陀林中。当时，薄伽梵带着阿难陀作为侍者，去乞食。薄伽梵所穿的衣服稍微有些破裂，他考虑到这是为了调伏众生的合理之举。乞食完毕返回时，来了一位婆罗门，以头顶礼薄伽梵，观察到薄伽梵的名号清晰明亮，看到薄伽梵的衣服稍微有些破裂，心想应该行布施。他从家中取出一块白布，剪下一块，献给薄伽梵，说道：请用这块布补一下衣服吧。薄伽梵也为了慈悲他而接受了，婆罗门非常高兴，心满意足。薄伽梵为了慈悲他而授记说：婆罗门，你未来经过无数百千劫后，将会成佛，名号为善显知，具足十力。授记完毕，婆罗门非常高兴地离开了。当时，那个地方的种姓高贵的商人和居士等心想：为什么薄伽梵对一点点布施给予如此大的回报呢？于是各自准备了白布，做了各种各样的如来衣服，献给佛陀。阿难陀请问薄伽梵：薄伽梵过去做了什么善根，以至于大家都献上这么多的衣服？薄伽梵这样回答说：你好好听着，记在心里，我将为你讲述。过去在无数无量的劫之前，有佛名为遍见，降临世间，与九万眷属一同居住。当时的国王名为班度。

Chapter 43: The Brahmin Offers a Patch Chapter 43: The Brahmin Offers a Patch Volume Twelve. Thus I have heard. At one time, the Blessed One was in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove of Anathapindika's Park. At that time, the Blessed One, taking Ananda as his attendant, went to beg for alms. The Blessed One's robe was slightly torn, and he considered this a reasonable act for taming sentient beings. After begging for alms and returning, a Brahmin came, bowed to the Blessed One with his head, observed that the Blessed One's name was clear and bright, and seeing that the Blessed One's robe was slightly torn, thought that he should give alms. He took a piece of white cloth from his house, cut off a piece, and offered it to the Blessed One, saying, "Please use this piece of cloth to patch your robe." The Blessed One accepted it out of compassion for him, and the Brahmin was very happy and satisfied. The Blessed One, out of compassion for him, prophesied, "Brahmin, in the future, after countless hundreds of thousands of kalpas, you will attain enlightenment and become a Buddha named Good Manifest Knowledge, possessing the ten powers." After the prophecy, the Brahmin left very happily. At that time, noble merchants and householders in that area thought, "Why does the Blessed One give such a great reward for such a small offering?" So they each prepared white cloth, made various kinds of Tathagata robes, and offered them to the Buddha. Ananda asked the Blessed One, "What good deeds did the Blessed One do in the past, that everyone offers so many robes?" The Blessed One replied, "Listen carefully and keep it in mind, and I will tell you. In the past, countless immeasurable kalpas ago, a Buddha named Vipashyin appeared in the world and lived with ninety thousand attendants. The king at that time was named Bandhu."

事已至此，当时有一位大臣迎请佛陀和僧众，请他们在此安住三个月。世尊也应允了。那位大臣回到家中，准备各种供养的物品。当时国王也想迎请佛陀和僧众，于是前往佛陀所在之处，向世尊禀告说：‘尊者世尊，请您和圣僧众接受我三个月的供养。’世尊对国王说：‘我之前已经答应大臣的邀请，不能违背大士之法的先许之约。’之后国王回到王宫，对大臣说：‘这个国家没有比我更大的，世尊住在我的国家，我之前就想供养，所以才迎请。你先暂缓，等我供养之后，你再迎请。’大臣对国王说：‘天神，您可以随意支配我的身体和性命，如来也常住于世，国王的国土也永远安乐，没有灾荒，如果一定要这样做，那我也只好暂缓了。’国王心想这样不行，于是下令我们两人轮流供养。一天由国王供养，一天由大臣供养，满足了两人的愿望。当时那位大臣向如来献上了三件法衣，并向九万比丘僧众每人供养了一件七衣。阿难，当时的那个时候，那位大臣供养法衣，献给佛陀和僧众，你不要想成是别人，那就是现在的我。我生生世世行善积德，从不厌倦，所以也体验了所有这些善果的成熟，没有浪费。阿难等眷属啊！’

Thus, at that time, a great minister invited the Buddha and the Sangha to stay for three months. The Blessed One also agreed. That minister returned home and prepared various offerings. At that time, the king also thought of inviting the Buddha and the Sangha, so he went to where the Buddha was and said to the Blessed One: 'Venerable Blessed One, please accept my offerings for three months together with the noble Sangha.' The Blessed One said to the king: 'I have already accepted the invitation of the great minister, and it is not right to go against the previous agreement of the Great Being's Dharma.' Then the king returned to the palace and said to the great minister: 'There is no one greater than me in this country. The Blessed One is staying in my country. I wanted to make offerings before, so I invited him. You wait for a while, and after I have made offerings, you can invite him.' The minister said to the king: 'O God, you can dispose of my body and life as you please. The Tathagata also abides forever, and the king's country is always happy and free from calamities. If it must be so, then I will have to wait.' The king thought that this was not right, so he ordered that the two of us should make offerings in turn. One day the king made offerings, and one day the minister made offerings, fulfilling the wishes of both. At that time, that great minister offered three Dharma robes to the Tathagata, and also offered one seven-piece robe to each of the ninety thousand Bhikshu Sangha. Ananda, at that time, that minister offered Dharma robes to the Buddha and the Sangha, do not think of it as someone else, that is me now. I have been doing good deeds in all my lives without being tired, so I have also experienced the ripening of all these good results without wasting them. Ananda and other retinue!'
