The Sutra of Supreme Designation. The Sutra of Supreme Designation. Translated and finalized by the Indian Abbot Acharya Jñanaśīgupta and the Tibetan translator, the monk Shakya Lodrö. Homage to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas! Thus have I heard. Once, the Blessed One, together with a community of Śrāvakas, was dwelling in Rājagṛha, in the grove of light, Kalandaka, having committed to the summer retreat. Then, the Blessed One addressed the monks, saying: Monks, these three are supreme designations. Which three? The Buddha as a supreme designation, the Dharma as a supreme designation, and the Sangha as a supreme designation. What is the Buddha as a supreme designation? Among all sentient beings, whether footless, two-legged, four-legged, many-legged, with form, without form, with perception, without perception, or neither with nor without perception, the Tathāgata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened One is declared to be supreme. Whoever delights in the Buddha is one who delights in the supreme. Those who delight in the supreme should know that their ripening will be supreme among gods who have become gods, or among humans who have become humans. This is called the Buddha as a supreme designation. What is the Dharma as a supreme designation? Among all conditioned or unconditioned dharmas, the Dharma of detachment is declared to be supreme. Whoever delights in the Dharma is one who delights in the supreme. Those who delight in the supreme should know that their ripening will be supreme among gods who have become gods, or among humans who have become humans. This is called the Dharma as a supreme designation. What is the Sangha as a supreme designation? Among all assemblies, gatherings, multitudes, or retinues, the Śrāvaka Sangha of the Tathāgatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Buddhas is supreme.

如是宣说。凡是对僧众感到非常欢喜的那些人，就是对殊胜感到非常欢喜的人。要知道，那些对殊胜感到非常欢喜的人，其异熟果也将变成天众中的天，或者人众中的人中最殊胜的。这被称为僧众殊胜之安立。世尊如是宣说之后，那些比丘心生欢喜，对世尊所说之语深表赞叹。 殊胜之安立经 圆满。 殊胜之安立经。

Thus it was taught. Those who are very delighted with the Sangha are those who are very delighted with the excellent. Know that those who are very delighted with the excellent, their ripening will also become the best among the gods in the gods, or among the humans in the humans. This is called the establishment of the excellence of the Sangha. After the Blessed One spoke thus, those monks rejoiced and greatly praised what the Blessed One had said.
