Chapter Twenty-Six: Rejoicing Chapter Twenty-Six: Rejoicing Then, the Blessed One again addressed the youth Moonbeam, saying: "Youth, therefore, Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas who desire this samadhi and wish to quickly and completely awaken to unsurpassed, perfect enlightenment should be skillful in means. Youth, how is a Bodhisattva Mahasattva skillful in means? Youth, in this case, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should cultivate a mind of closeness towards all sentient beings. Whatever roots of virtue and accumulations of merit all sentient beings possess, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should rejoice in them. Three times during the day and three times during the night, rejoicing in the roots of virtue and accumulations of merit of all sentient beings, they should generate a mind focused on omniscience and dedicate that root of virtue and accumulation of merit to all sentient beings. Youth, that Bodhisattva Mahasattva, endowed with the accumulation of merit arising from skillful means, will quickly attain this samadhi and quickly and completely awaken to unsurpassed, perfect enlightenment." Then, at that time, the Blessed One spoke these verses: These sentient beings are all my kin, Whatever great merit they may have, Three times by day and three times by night, I rejoice in the generation of bodhicitta. Whoever does not commit evil even for the sake of their life, I rejoice in their perfectly pure discipline. The Bodhisattvas' excellent aspiration is complete, I rejoice in whatever merit they have. Whoever has faith in the Buddhas, and likewise, Has faith in the Dharma and the Sangha, I rejoice. Because of utterly desiring enlightenment itself, I rejoice in those who make offerings to the Sugatas. In order to maintain the lineage of perfect enlightenment, For the sake of sentient beings, with great wisdom, For the unsurpassed, supreme, and sacred enlightenment, Whoever generates the mind, I rejoice. The Bodhisattva, overwhelmed by compassion, For wealth, grain, jewels, consorts, Sons, daughters, and flourishing royal power,

I rejoice in giving away my own flesh. Through the complete cultivation of wisdom, the body is tamed. Through the excellent training in skillful means, With a mind of great joy for the sake of sentient beings, I rejoice in giving away my own body. Living alone, without a companion, in the forest, Always living purely like a rhinoceros. Those who have few worldly activities, And do not feign virtue for profit, I rejoice in them. Those who do not rely on others, without jealousy, Do not crave for a home, and are always Greatly fearful of the three realms, I rejoice in conduct unattached to the world. Being greatly weary of all births in existence, I rejoice in those who are without elaboration. Without strife, and with a mind near to peace, For them, this samadhi is not difficult to attain. Those who, seeing the faults of busyness, Abandon all strife and dwell in solitude, Dwelling at the foot of a tree, striving for liberation, I rejoice in the sons of the Sugata. Not praising myself, nor disparaging others, I rejoice in those who dwell in solitude. Those who are mindful in this teaching, And have abandoned carelessness, I rejoice in them. Whatever qualities are on the path to enlightenment, The root of all is this mindfulness, Those sons of the Buddha who are always mindful, For them, this samadhi is not difficult to attain. The teaching of the Sugata is finding a treasure, Renunciation is the second treasure, Obtaining faith is the third treasure, This samadhi is the fourth treasure. Having heard of this emptiness, the realm of the Buddha's activity, Not abandoning this is also finding a treasure. Limitless confidence is also finding a treasure, Whatever dharanis there are, those are the best of treasures. Whatever virtuous qualities are spoken of, Such as morality, learning, giving, and patience, The root of all is this mindfulness, The Sugata has said that this is finding a treasure. Those who are mindful in this Buddha's teaching, And who have genuine aspirations, For them, this samadhi is not difficult to attain. They have become close to this Buddha's teaching. The twenty-sixth chapter, the chapter on rejoicing, is complete.
