D980 @#། །In the language of India: Ārya Pratītyasamutpāda nāma mahāyāna sūtra. In the Tibetan language: The Noble Great Vehicle Sutra called "Dependent Arising." Homage to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Thus have I heard: At one time, the Blessed One was dwelling in the abode of the thirty-three gods, on a stone slab like an Āmalaka fruit, together with the great Śrāvakas such as the venerable Ārya Sthavira, and the Bodhisattva-Mahāsattvas such as the noble Maitreya, the noble Avalokiteśvara, and Vajrapāṇi, adorned with immeasurable qualities and jewels, and the great Brahma, the lord of the Sahā world, the son of Sredmed, the great Īśvara, and other gods, as well as the king of the gods, Indra, the Gandharva king Pañcaśikha, and others. Then, the Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva Avalokiteśvara rose from his seat, arranged his upper robe over one shoulder, placed his right knee on the summit of Mount Meru, and with his palms joined together, bowed towards the Blessed One and said to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, these gods all wish to build stupas and are gathered here. In order to increase the merit of Brahma, and for the world inhabited by gods, demons, and Brahma, and for the beings inhabited by ascetics and Brahmins, especially for the monks, nuns, laymen, and laywomen, so that their merit may greatly increase, please, Blessed One, teach them the Dharma." 逝世者得见。（观世音）自在种姓之子，或种姓之女，任何具信者，于不住之方，造塔如余甘子之果实大小，命杆如针之大小，伞如柯迦花之大小，若将缘起性空之法的偈颂置于其中，则彼将生梵天之福德，从此地命终，死亡之时过后，将生于梵天世界。世尊如是开示后，诸声闻、诸菩萨、一切具足之眷属、天、人、非天、乾闼婆等世间皆欢喜，对世尊所说之语深表赞叹。圣缘起经，名为大乘经，圆满。

The deceased will be seen. (Avalokiteśvara) Son of a noble family, or daughter of a noble family, any faithful person, in a non-abiding place, makes a stupa the size of an amalaka fruit, a life-tree the size of a needle, and an umbrella the size of a Bakula flower. If the verses of the Dharma of dependent origination and emptiness are placed within it, then he will generate the merit of Brahma, and after dying from this place, after the time of death, he will be born in the world of Brahma. After the Blessed One spoke thus, the Shravakas, the Bodhisattvas, all the retinue with all, the gods, humans, asuras, gandharvas, and other worlds rejoiced and praised the words spoken by the Blessed One. The Noble Dependent Origination Sutra, called the Great Vehicle Sutra, is complete.
