Instructions to Lo-or, Three Songs of Experience. Instructions to Lo-or, Three Songs of Experience. Namo Guru Lokeshvaraya. Namo Guru Lokeśvarāya,English literal meaning: Homage to the Guru Lokeshvara). I prostrate to the treasure of compassion, inseparable from the Guru and Yidam. Lo-or, who had faith, said, "I need one teaching that benefits the mind." Whatever arises in the mind, speak it immediately. Kalpas are hundreds of millions, Buddhas appear only this once. Now is born in the Fortunate Kalpa, bad destinies are like the dust of the earth. Human body is like the dust on a fingernail, now a precious human body is obtained. Ugly body and the sound of a cow are unpleasant, even if born in the three continents, Dharma does not flourish. Now is born in this Jambudvipa, borderlands are a hundred and also a thousandfold. In those places, there is no time for Dharma, now is born in this snowy land (Tibet). The Buddha's teachings last for a short time, when the teachings decline, there is no true Dharma. Now is born at the time when Shakya's teachings flourish, for the deaf, mute, and insane. Even if the true Dharma flourishes, there is no opportunity to practice, now the five senses are complete. It is difficult to gather like this again, now it is best to practice the true Dharma. Now if you do not practice the true Dharma, you are deceiving yourself too much. Just having the thought of practicing Dharma is useless, as the years and months pass, death approaches. Life is passing away without being noticed, only when food and clothing are exhausted does miserliness arise. Life is exhausted, and death comes one by one, diseases and demonic obstacles rage like a storm. Life is like a butter lamp in the wind, when the Lord of Death inevitably arrives. Leaders and fathers cannot protect you, words and food and wealth cannot deceive him. Even if rituals and medical treatments are done, relatives and friends surround you. You cannot share the suffering of the loss of life, the body arises with unbearable pain. The mind has great fear of illusions, even a stiff corpse must be abandoned. What need is there to mention relatives and food and wealth? Consciousness is like a feather carried by the wind, wandering aimlessly in an unfamiliar land. Virtue and evil follow like the body and its shadow, the court of Yama is so terrifying. The mirror of karma is so clear, secrets and lies cannot work there. Wanting to do good but cannot find the opportunity, regretting evil is too late. The flames of hell are so hot.

Great! The messengers of Yama have no compassion. Such people should practice the sacred Dharma. This is a song that guides the mind into the Dharma. Namo Guru (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese: Homage to the Guru). If you wish to practice the sacred Dharma in Lowo, take refuge in the three jewels of the gods! If you wish to extract the essence from your body, keep pure fasting on the days of the new and full moon! If you wish to purify the obscurations of your body, constantly perform a hundred prostrations without fail! If you wish to purify the obscurations of your speech, constantly recite the six-syllable mantra (Om Mani Padme Hum, Sanskrit: ओँ मणि पद्मे हूँ, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ maṇi padme hūṃ, Chinese: Om Ma Ni Bei Mei Hum)! If you wish your mind to be free from confusion, abandon this intoxicating drug that makes the mind mad—alcohol! If you wish to receive the blessings of the Lama, pray with steadfast faith! If you wish to cultivate pure perception without bias, generate faith in all yellow robes! If you wish to abandon the suffering of hell, stop the act of killing and abandon the intention to harm! If you wish to abandon the suffering of the hungry ghosts, stop the act of stealing and abandon arrogance! If you wish to abandon the suffering of animals, stop harsh words and change slander! If you wish to abandon the suffering of the Asuras, stop fighting and change divisive speech! If you wish to obtain the body of a god or a human, do whatever it takes to accomplish the ten virtues! If you wish to ultimately attain Buddhahood, dedicate whatever Dharma you practice to all six realms of beings! If you wish to realize your own mind as the Dharmakaya, look at the nature of your own mind without alteration! If you wish to obtain the rainbow body Sambhogakaya, meditate on the body as emptiness, and great compassion pervading! If you wish to accomplish the benefit of beings with the Nirmanakaya, make aspirations for the sake of all six kinds of beings! These are the heart words of me, a beggar. May you, Lowo, keep them in mind! This is an easily understood song of practice. Namo Mahamudra Ye (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese: Homage to the Great Seal). If the people of Lowo wish to cultivate practice, do not be distracted, look at your own mind! When looking, if you cannot see, rest in that state! If thoughts arise, look at the nature of the one who arises! If your mind is peaceful in its own place, rest in that state! If clarity appears, look at the nature of clarity! Do not be distracted, rest loosely and clearly! If there is abiding, look at the nature of abiding! Rest naked, bare, and relaxed! When the five poisons arise, look at their nature! Rest in the state of self-liberated wisdom! If agitated, relax your mind and look! Let it go wherever it goes, and maintain vigilance! If drowsy, dark, and dull, gather your mind and look! Rest in the state of drowsiness and darkness being self-illuminating! The above is an explanation of the view.
