From the Nyingma scripture collection called "Gongdü," it is said that the best method for generating windhorse is the prayer flag. Therefore, one should take its oral instruction into practice. The color of the windhorse should be the same as one's own or the mother's. For those born in the years of the Tiger, Horse, and Dog, the prayer flag should be white, and the streamers should be yellow. For those born in the years of the Pig, Sheep, and Rabbit, the prayer flag should be red, and green streamers should be attached to it. For those born in the years of the Mouse, Dragon, and Monkey, the prayer flag should be green, and the streamers should be blue. For those born in the years of the Bird, Ox, and Snake, the prayer flag should be blue, and the streamers should be white. For all, the top of the flag should be blue, and a patch in the shape of the sun and moon should be sewn onto it. The bottom hem should be yellow, representing the earth. The decorative top should match the color of the streamers. That is the color of the windhorse mother, because the mother of the elements gives birth to the son. The color of the prayer flag should be the same as one's own windhorse color. Then, the mantras to be written on it are: ideally, write with Chinese ink, or moderately with clean ink.
